He had NO right to mention this. To do it, he only inflamed a situation where all the facts have yet to be told. Did he happen to mention the black kids who set the white boy on fire?

No! Why not? There is so much crime every day. How does he pick and choose. Let this case be heard by a grand jury. Not be a political ploy of the president.

Yes he should be. He should keep his lid shut until the truth comes out. Maybe you should try the same thing. It is just possible Zimmerman defended himself as he claims. It may be possible that that "young ming is own business" black youth was in the midst of delivering an epic beat down before he was shot. Obama and his buddy Holden both have made decisions based own race because "worse things were done to their race". Making decisions based on race his the hall make of a bigot and a racist. That includes the crowd screaming for justice for a young man because he is black rather than letting our system find the truth and let justice flow from that rather than racist opinions.

Why did you have to ruin what might have been a rather compelling article by taking a cheap shot at the so called "birthers", chalking up to racism their desire to determine the status of his citizenship? Could you just not resist the opportunity?

Otherwise, interesting piece.

So you're saying when George Bush brought his Texan attitude with him to the White House he should not have been criticized by anyone.

I am sad at how we get off track. A child is dead at the hands of an adult that was chasing him with a gun. When did it become okay for a stranger with a gun to chase a child? How many times do we tell our children to RUN if someone approaches them, and if someone grabs them to fight as hard as they can so they can get away. This is true for the little girl in LA who fought off her attacker said her father in tears. Any mature adult would not follow a child of any age, they would call the police. If you come toward me with a gun I will run thinking you are trying to abduct or rape me. We live in a world with SICK PERVERTED child predators and children should be protected first and foremost with this in mind.. . In fact let’s just say this man was a predators he chased a child. And for the record many children act up in school because they are going through hormone changes during puberty and some more than others thus causing some behavior issues

however that does not give a stranger that is possibly trying to do harm to an unarmed child. And when did it become a crime to wear a sweatshirt with a hood.

It seems that no matter what President Obama does is wrong, and as far as Gingrich is concerned, who cares what he has to say, he's a loser and a pain in the ass

GINGRICH COMMENT IS MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING...

Zimmerman is obviously a whack job looking for an excuse to pull the trigger - I've known a few like him.

Let due process run its course. Charge Zimmerman with murder 2 and plead it down to manslaughter 1 (or appropriate Florida statute(s)).

I observe Florida's "Stand Your Ground Law" does not apply in this case due to the circumstances of the shooting - notwithstanding Jesse Jackson's perennial, race baiting blather.

R.L. Schaefer of CA 4:06PM March 26, 2012

"Zimmerman, who is half white and half Hispanic" -- there is no such thing. He is Hispanic whether he is half white is another issue. Was his Hispanic parent white, black, asian, or native American? Hispanic is not a race. You can say he is an Hispanic of mixed racial background, but no one has established that. The media keeps throwing around he is half Hispanic, which is not a racial identification. At this point, none of us know his racial identity but we know he is Hispanic. Is he a white hispanic or a Black Hispanic, or is he of mixed racial background. We really don't know. And the media should stop this half Hispanic bull.

The writer is 100% correct. President Obama, with his unique perpsective, has not only a right but an obligation to speak out on racial issues in this country.

The problem here is that President Obama has no evidence that the Martin-Zimmerman case is a racial one.

Every day in America, persons of different racial backgrounds engage in violence independent of those racial backgrounds.

Perhaps we could wait for the various investigations to conclude before making a judgment.
