I am now switching all of my shopping from Home Depot to Lowes!

Gary of CO 8:24AM December 13, 2011

Hey, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot....

Does your mother know what your handle is? I'll just refer to you as, "Whatthe"

So Whatthe, apparently your reading comprehension is not what it should be. My comments were not about Islam's "few bad seeds", but rather the comparison of Christ and Mohamed. So, I will advise you - as I advised Susan, to compare the words and deeds of Christ to those of Mohamed.

Now Whatthe, do some basic research - should take you about 10 minutes. You will see that my description of Mohamed is accurate. The Muslims you allude to were, apparently, not orthodox Muslims since Mohamed, in word and deed was very clear that non Muslims needed to be converted or killed. And believe me he killed many thousands. Tell me Whatthe, how many people did Christ rape, kill, enslave or torture?

You see Whatthe, people acting badly in the name of Christ is not the same as Christ behaving badly. Isn't it good that we could clarify that?

So, the bottom line is that the basic tenants of Islam are evil. That is not the same as saying that all Muslims are evil. But, as the Arab Spring illustrates, their default setting is intolerant, chauvinistic Sharia Law and the persecution of Christians and Jews. As a matter of fact, I just read that the last Christian church was destroyed in Afghanistan 2 months ago and I note the Muslims are burning them in Egypt, Iran and Libya as I write this. Tell me Whatthe, when did you last see a Mosque burned with or without tacit government permission in the U.S.A.? If one was burned there would be an intense and massive investigation and the Mosque would be rebuilt immediately and the criminals imprisoned. This is not the case in the Muslim world.

You blather on about, "... Christianity is no better than Islam when it comes down to Radicals." Really? I can list at least a dozen Muslim nations that persecute and discriminate against Christians openly - many are executed without trial or murdered without investigation. Can you name one Christian nation that officially persecutes Muslims?

No, I thought not.

Well, now that we were able to clarify the situation I'd like to sincerely thank you for serving our country and I wish for you a long, honorable and prosperous life.

WTF:

I strongly suggest that you research the number of radical Islamic schools there are world-wide, the number of radical Islamic preachers who preach hate and death, the number of hate-filled passages in the Koran, (all indexed as a percentage of the population of the religion) and compare them to the same things in Christianity (again indexed to the population).

There is NO comparison.

Lowe's had to be pretty dumb to have supported this sort of proIslam, pro Shariah law propaganda sponsored the crazy, ultra left-wing NPR in the first place.

If Lowe's sticks by its guns I will shift all of my purchases from Home Depot to them. If the knuckle under to the outrageous boycott against them I will do just the opposite and move all of my business to Home Depot.

It's true that there are bad seeds in Islam, just as there are bad seeds in Christianity. Timothy McVeigh, Anders Behring Breivik (Norway shooter), The Christian Protestants during the conflict in Ireland between the Catholics and Protestants, The National Liberation Front of Tripura in India, and Westboro Baptist Church are examples of Christians behaving badly. They believe in the same Christ you believe in, how do you explain them? I already know you're going to say, "They don't represent the entirety of Christianity." Those are but a few Christian groups who do the same thing the radical Muslims are doing. I am an Iraq War veteran. I have made many friends in the Iraqi Army, they're just like you and I. They want the same kind of freedom we have. They hate groups such as the Taliban and Al Qaeda. Some of their families have been killed by those groups too. I just find it funny that we live here in the United States and we preach freedom and equality, but yet we bash the Muslims because of a few bad seeds. We spit on the Bill of Rights and the Constitution and deny decent human beings a right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I can point out many so-called "Christian" politicians who have led other than "godly" lives. Christianity is no better than Islam when it comes down to radicals.

Congratulations Lowe's for pulling your ad. There are millions of Americans that will shop at Lowe's to support your right to advertise where you want.

James of TX 2:26PM December 12, 2011

While I agree that Lowe's should not have bowed to the pressure from that group, within part of your reasoning is the following :

"Nor does reality TV depict American Christians as inherent terrorists, citing the behavior of Timothy McVeigh in the Oklahoma City bombing."

Probably the dumbest statement I've heard yet from you - there is zero equivalency in the terrorist tendencies (never mind the core beliefs) of the two religions.

R.L. :

"While it is true that Muslims who reside in countries where they are not a majority tend to adopt a more more liberal, unorthodox take on Islam."

Not quite correct.

Take a good look at the cities around the world where Muslims have taken over concentrated areas within those cities - the police have given up trying to enforce the law in those enclaves. Sharia law controls those areas, and "honor killings", etc, are as common there as in countries where Islam is the dominant cultural control.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, aka the "Mormon Church," banned polygamy in 1890. Those who practice polygamy today are NOT Mormons -- they belong to off-shoot sects, so

calling them Mormons is wrong.

To help others understand:

-- If I said a Lutheran is a Catholic -- because Lutherans share some similar beliefs even though the Lutheran Church broke away from the Catholic faith but -- I'd be wrong for calling a Lutheran a Catholic.

-- If I said an Episcopalian is a Roman Catholic -- because Episcopalians share some similiar beliefs even though the Episcopalian faith broke away from the the Roman church -- I'd be wrong for calling an Episcopalian a Roman Catholic.

So it goes with the polygamists. The are not "Mormons"-- they belong to other churches with names such as:

1. The Apostolic United Brethren

2. The Righteous Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

3. The Latter Day Church of Christ

4. Righteous Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Please don't call those who practice polygamy "Mormons." They are not.
