PPS: Dem shill Susan Milligan is seriously-late to the get-serious party. A *****LOT***** of us got 'serious' back in Mar. 2009 when the $787 billion stimunot was hatched by Obama and the dems. And that was a big reason why the Nov. 2010 midterms turned out the way they did.
But then again, dem shill Susan Milligan was seriously-late to the 'uncivility' party as well, when she became Debbie Wasserman-Schultz's attack chihuahua against West, three years after DWS showed everyone else what an obnoxious, uncivil ditch (replace the d with a Chuck Schumer flight-attendant b) she was as water-carrier for 2008 Candidate Obama.
And again, dem shill Susan Milligan was seriously-late to the 'inexcusable' media party, when she only noticed how 'inexcusable' the media was when big squirming toad liar Anthony Weiner got caught telling his big squirming toad lie.
So now dem shill Susan Milligan decrees it's time to get 'serious' about who should be the next president. Yeah, right.

believe he is truly running for President. He has dumped millions into his campaign. Not just for

What she relly means by "not a serious candidate" is that "He could beat Obama". And she doesn't want that to happen.

Cain's explanation of the sales tax wasn't great, and perhaps it is impossible to explain it in a simple way that makes sense, but he does have a valid point.
Suppose my current tax rate is 30%. Replace that with a 9% tax rate on income, and a 9% tax rate on sales. Assuming that I spend everything I earn, my total taxes paid to the feds would be 18%, a big saving to me. Yes, my total sales tax rate would be 17%, a combination of 8% state tax and 9% federal tax. But I still would be paying less tax overall. Before: 38% After: 26%.
I believe that the author is correct in saying that this would give me an incentive to save money rather than spend it, which would reduce sales at the exact wrong time. We do need a higher saving rate in this country, but we have to get everybody to work and get out of the recession before we start trying to achieve that goal.

Milligan writes, "Cain is proposing a "9-9-9'' tax plan, one that would impose a 9 percent tax on income, corporations, and sales. But it's not clear Cain has thought this through. The individual tax is regressive, levying the same percentage burden—and thus, a heavier relative burden—on lower-income Americans. But the tax could also be passed on to consumers."
The same percentage burden on lower income Americans... Let's see... I am paying over 20% currently, so it's a decent deal to me. When I made minimum wage, I paid well over 9% on my meager wages, so in retrospect, it's still a decent deal.
Both parties like to rig the tax rates to their perceived benefit. The flat tax seems a rather fair deal under examination. Maybe Susan Milligan has not thought it out...

Countless time I posted CBO report that Bush tax cuts for rich increased government revenue. Agreeing with JFK that best way to fund war is reduce rich taxes. Democrats Clinton, Senator Clinton, Pelosi, Gore, Teddy, etc. was for before Bush took office. Senator barry was for Afgan war.
The bust of Wall Street was bad loan paper sold by Fanny & Freddie. Wars and drug plan had nothing to do with Wall Street.
