"The GOP, ( Grand Obstructionist Party) has filibustered over 500 bills and appointments ...."

Ummm, there have only been 500 votes of cloture in the Senate since 1961...........

PS - the Repubs just did an end run around the Democrats and passed the FAA bill.

To blame the Democrat controlled Senate for the non passage of the FAA bill is a disingenuous statement. The bill, like so many that have reached the Senate, is being filibustered by the Republicans in the Senate. The GOP, ( Grand Obstructionist Party) has filibustered over 500 bills and appointments and have now upped the ante to holding the economy hostage so they can get their way. In the mean time, real people are losing their jobs, homes ,and their life savings because of failed economic policies the Republicans wish to pursue again. If we go back in time and read some of these posters comments around the last election, it was all about jobs. Yet the House and the Republican minority in the Senate have refused to do anything about jobs.

I get so sick of hearing that 16-17 million is only chump change. This bill was passed by the house some time ago and if the people read it, they would support it. The bill would cut off subsidies for small airports that are within 90 miles of a larger one or cut subsidies when they exceed $1,000 per passenger as they do on so many of these empty flights. What is not reasonable about that and why doesn't the Senate sign the bill and why doesn't the media report the facts. If we can't cut a measly 16 million then how can we cut the 10 trillion in new Debt thats projected in the next 10 years?

the nonotonous poster is partly correct.i;ll revise my statement.it;s the obstrustionist, recalcitrant republican members of the SENATE who are responsible for this debacle.

the next time one of these irresponsible slackers takes the senate floor to wax about revenues , spending and jobs.they should be reminded of their hyopcrisy on this issue.

In this case, senate dems are willing to forego up to $1 billion in federal tax revenue to hang on to their subsidies of $14-16 million (as variously reported) to rural airports in their constituencies. So dem-shill Susan Milligan tries feebly to blame republicans for the loss of up to $1 billion in tax revenue.

The most telling thing about this post from Susan Milligan is the way she oh-so-curiously left out the actual amount of the subsidies involved, the $14-16 million. When you know that the senate dems are holding things up for the sake of $14-16 million, well that makes them look like real chutzes, now doesn't it?

As to something as potentially impactful to one's job as unionization is, anyone not motivated to vote on it is sending a clear message: Unionization doesn't thrill me. That's a lot closer to a no vote than yes vote. And not voting should be counted in with the actual no votes.

Once again a political quid-pro-quo by huckster Obama, this time to big labor, one of the last pillars of support for leftist dems, is coming back to bite him -- and everyone else.

Hence the update:

War Powers 90 plus another Obama-instigated aeronautical mess:

Obama had no qualms about dropping a billion to pay for his lawyer-shopped non-war Libyan air war but now has the gall and temerity to now chide all of congress over FAA funding. The big squirming kinetic toad liar can't very well directly and publicly say to senate dems, "Hey, give up your $14-16 million subsidies" while he went off UNIMPEACHABLY by them and dropped a billion (and still counting) on his lawyer-shopped non-war Libyan air war, now can he?

The goal of the cult of stupidity has been to paralyze our government. This was announced and made obvious by McConnel in the senate soon after Obama was elected. It's not a secret. After the cult gained control of the house that is all they could talk about. Any branch or function of government they didn't like or which had crossed them was going to be defunded, remember. They have done just what they said they were going to do, hamstring our government and payback anybody that didn't see things quite the way they do, such as planned parenthood. They have been vindictive and relentless. Their attack on the environment has been merciless. It's defined as sabotage. Terrorists couldn't have done a better job.

For two years you owned Congress and WH. Was you all that "cripple our government" with debt...

Bill Hedges of MO 7:01PM August 03, 2011

The cult of stupidity have become nothing but saboteurs and terrorists. For three years they have done nothing but try to cripple our government. It was always their strategy to do nothing. And if possible, hamstring the goverment. This is all that they do. It is all politics. Any group or agency that helps the people has become a target: planned parenthood, FAA, the Consumer Protection Agency, the EPA, the new agency to regulate banking.

They have all been attacked by the terrorists.

"HR 2553 was passed on 7/20 by the house and funds the FAA through December"

Senate has passed ONE budget bill in 800 + day. Why should House hold their breathe for Senate to do their job.

You're blaming House, when BLAME belongs to SENATE. Typical liberal mistake. Now throw "anti-labor,obstructionist ,recalcitrant " at Senate...

Bill Hedges of MO 4:56PM August 03, 2011

it;s amazing, that congress, who has just finished putting the country through great fear and anguish over raising the debt ceiling, would have the gall to continue to act so irresponsible.

they banged the gavel and sprinted for the exits, leaving much unfinished business.aside from nothing on job creation.they failed to deal with funding the f.a.a. aside from putting numerous construction projects on hold and putting thousands of workers on the bench, the loss of revenue to the government is staggering.

with all the hand ringing over taxes and spending the responsible thing would have been short term funding till they return from their vacation in september.

the main reason,it seems, for the inaction on the matter,is once again the anti-labor,obstructionist ,recalcitrant republicans.

the next time a republican comes to the floor to postulate on the subject of taxes and and revenues, they should be reminded of their hypocrisy.
