Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker Is Aiming at Unions, Not the Budget

Ms. Milligan,

Was slightly selective in her stats on unionization from the Bureau of Labor...in fact that while the general worker population in unions is indeed approximately 11.9%...the unionization of public sector employees has grown to 36.2% and in local governments the percentage of union employees is 42% and growing! This group has a knife at the throat of the average tax-payer...the 73.1% of the private sector that has no guaranteed-paid for retirement plan or paid for health plan.

I was one who had been fooled early on by the governor and his bill. Thank goodness the bill has been postponed so that more of us can learn more about it. I've been hearing a few other things about it that I'd like to get clarification on, if you or anyone else would care to comment. First, I've been reading that the governor plans to sell off State power plants to some of his campaign contributors. Second, I've heard that he wants to separate UW Madison from the rest of the UW college system so he have the freedom to cut costs wherever he wants - I'm the parent of a UW Madison student, so that concerns me. Finally, I'm now hearing that he plans to start firing State workers next week if they don't start cooperating with him - wouldn't doing something that unfair trigger statewide strikes?
