Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker Is Aiming at Unions, Not the Budget

This is not a forum for the Bi-polar rants. Have you notice the type of people protesting? Most appear not to have jobs, some leftover buckets from a possible cleaning job, and some bangy sticks. Lost razors, don't live near a "haircuts" and washers appear to be broken. The low-lifes came out in force because they had nothing else to do.....Go to work and start paying taxes....too much free time....like the democrats in IL. Bet

We find a little over two weeks after your blog on the Wisconsin “Budget” bill you are absolutely correct about the intent of Governor Scott Walker and the Republicans in the Wisconsin Senate.

I knew it. Walker knew it. The Wisconsin lawmakers knew it. The demonstrators we interviewed in Madison knew it. My union brothers and sisters knew it. The Koch brothers knew it.

And yes… President Obama knew it too! (I guess he couldn't find his comfortable walking shoes.)

Did the rest of the USA know it? Or were they too busy being anesthetized by local and national network television, their news divisions and the mainstream media? (Whatever that is.)

Nice cowardly, sneaky and underhanded move Wisconsin Republicans!

Gee whiz… I wonder what’s up with Charlie Sheen today?

It’s a cliché but in the translated words of Friedrich Gustav Niemoller:

“When the Nazis came for the communists,

I remained silent;

I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,

I remained silent;

I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,

I did not speak out;

I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,

I remained silent;

I wasn't a Jew.

When they came for me,

there was no one left to speak out.”

I feel the federal government should limit or eliminate federal funds to Wisconsin as long as Walker feels he can infringe on the rights of people. I would just about bet he kept his true agenda hidden before he was elected, but even if he was "elected to do a job or most likely paid to do it", the people of the U.S. elected officials to do one as well. If the federal government could with hold funds for not reducing speed limits to "55 mph" (not so long in the past), I am sure they could limit federal money to states violating rights by "bought politicians".

Okay...Governor Walker give your salary and your cronies salaries salary to the budget and your freebies and you will see a more balanced budget.

You are hurting the budget right now by time -and -a -half of the Capitol Police and the custodial.

Why are you doing this. We need a union to protect the rights of the people.

I am sorry but you will have a strike on your hands and it will be sad. The state senators will not come back until you negotiate. I wouldn't have a problem if I would have had a union. I had to find a private attorney who although he costs monies he will correct this travesty of justice done to me because I had no management nor union representation.

Again the unions want to negotiate. Don't do this.

Do you think you would be in the Governor's Mansion if you ran on this beating down the unions right to make a living just like you. I think you advance a little faster than the average school teacher or any other union job holder. We try to look out for our brothers and sisters. Seems to me you are just asking for a recall.

Think about it. We are.

Pay and benefits aside, public sector unions are a special interest that needs to be expunged from the political process. For the record, I oppose all special interests that have the ear of our politicians because of the money they provide. I would be for completely taxpayer funded elections to rid the system of the pernicious influence of outside money.

It is insanity that public sector unions contribute heavily to Democrats who in turn after election determine the pay and benefits of those in the public sector unions. If this is not cronyism then I don't know what is. Governor Walker simply wants to elminate bargaining on everything but pay. What is wrong with doing away with archaic and sometimes obstructionary work rules? What is wrong with raising teacher pay but bringing their benefits packages more in line with those in the private sector.

I live in New Jersey and my wife works for an international pharmaceutical company. Even with excellent reviews, she routinely receives raises of about 2 percent. Of that raise, some of that goes to increased health care contributions. It is difficult for me to understand why anyone would think it is right to raise property taxes, further cutting into that raise, so that teachers can continue paying nothing for health care and pension benefits on top of guaranteed raises in the order of 3 to 4 % per year, not counting step increases. Teachers in New Jersey have the highest compensation rates in the nation as it is. Incredibly, teachers in my home district get paid nearly $2,000 extra per year if they volunteer for lunch room duty (1 period per day). How many of us have eaten lunch at our desks while working and received nothing? It was only after the budget was voted down that they "heroically" accepted Governor Christie's proposal to pay a mere 3 % into their own healthcare plans. This was a cynical move on their part to save their fellows from being laid off.

In listening to one of the labor leaders in Wisconsin, he was heard to remark that while the union did concede the benefits package but was resistant to having changes made to collective bargaining during lean times because flush times would surely return. In other words, a tactical retreat now, with a return to business as usual when things get better. The unions and by consequence, the Democratic party, fears that rank and file member, if given the choice just might not decide to pay into the union coffers without the mandatory payroll deduction.

If any good has come of this recession, it is that is has placed hot klieg lights on the many abuses of government and it cronies who, in spite of what they believe, should be accountable to the taxpayer.

But these Wisconsin Senate "fleebaggers" want to come home after the dust is settled, and all the media boneheads are calling this "justified"?

Don't mind me, but I find this comical as he@@!

They ran away at a time when they are needed most!

What does this say of "leadership"? Good Grief, dude .....many on-the-fencer's are going to turn to Tea Party/Republicans after this one!

What???

Congratulations, Susan Milligan!

You have overtaken the term, "stupendously ignorant" to the politically correct, "willingly ignorant"!

Pre-election, Forbes Magazine stated in 2008 that this country will be in a monster-sized financial crisis if Obama was elected as he had very little "business sense" ....my my my! How right they were!

It appears Governor Walker DOES have business sense as he is trying to keep his state from going under by reducing non-essential expenditures. The chickens (Democrats) want more corn ....but there is no more corn in the bucket!

How else can one explain this to these knuckle-heads??!?
