The knee jerk reaction to 9/11 has led us down the road to a true police state. What we condem abroad in other countries, we condone here. Thomas Jefferson would roll in his grave. Seig Hiel

"Do explain how federal farm subsidies is welfare. "

Well, Bill old boy, it is welfare because in a true free market, farmers as well as corporations just have to make it on their own without handouts from the government. No special subsidies for not farming some of your acreage or planting a certain crop. The farmers just need to compete in the global world at whatever price their crop brings in. Of course, you and I, as well as everyone else in America, will just have to "man up" as your heroine likes to say and pay the price for more expense food. That is just the capitalistic way!

The "patriot act" is simply an extortion of human rights and freedoms for the purpose of enabling repressive government control of the populous. It has nothing to do with security. It destroys what our founding fathers established undermining our real security by placing control of the people by the elite for whatever their purpose. It is the end of our democracy.

Do explain how federal farm subsidies is welfare.

I suppose you take all legal deductions on your federal income tax April 15. You accept any legal rebates/subsidies...

"True Conservatives"?

snort, no such beast any more. today's "conservatism" is all about inconsistency, flip-flopping, and cynically gaming the system to cherry-pick benefits for themselves.

Like Welfare Queen michelle bachmann happily taking $251,973 in federal farm subsidies between 1995 and 2006. she ain't no "conservative", she's a shameless Machiavellian hustler.

if not for their secret devotion to social darwinism, conservatives would have no unifying principles at all.
