North Korea Goes Nuclear With Faxes

.02 megatons x 2 was enough to destroy Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Hey, but if you can man up....I mean wow....you're really strong.

I'd rather get a Peace Treaty with a nonproliferation treaty, accept both sides have Nuclear Weapons, and quit trying to provoke nuclear war.

Incineration is unacceptable.

By the way, they also have at least 9 medium range ICBMs with a range of 2,500 miles, an additional carrying capacity of 1-2 ton warhead, and an accuracy within a one mile radius.

They also likely have achieved a longer range missle that can reach anywhere in the united states.

On May 25, 2009, North Korea conducted a second test of a nuclear weapon at the same location as the original test.

The test weapon was of the same magnitude as the atomic bombs dropped on Japan in the 2nd World War, (confirmed S. Korea and Russia).

First of all, that is enough to incinerate Seoul and all the women and children there. More then putting a damper on things.

Second, most analysts believe he has 6-9 of those bombs.

Third, I'm not asking the author to put her head in the sand, I'm asking her to be more professional and less belittling.

Fourth, You do not just take out a leader with nukes. You seem to have the same rosy impression that Bush had going into Iraq. Cheney: Cakewalk...Bush...Mission Accomplished.

Fifth, quit playing Rambo with other people's children.

Your very well misinformed. N.Korea does not have megaton warheads. NK has only run a few test and those are estimated to be in the kiloton range. tactical nukes at best. Still put a damper on ones day.

NK is a loose cannon, and the last guy got it right. We've been sitting on our hands long enough. Time to eliminate Kim Jung Il and all of the politicals in the country. We have a nut who thinks he's greater than Hitler. Remove him ASAP.

Time for the US and South Korea to move on the leadership of NK and start an assassination campaign.

Did I understand you correctly? After North Korea randomly shoots 3 or 4 dozen artillery rounds into the civilian population of South Korea, then rattle their sabre with empty threats, and have played the part of belligerants since the 1950's and you have the audacity to contend that the United States is picking a fight?!

The best course of action you say is silence. Essentially you advocate the step British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain took with Hitler. The benefit was a mere few years of peace, the price was it emboldened Hitler, gave Germany access to materiale and production facilities in the Rhineland and Poland which allowed him more capacity to wage war, turned Hitler hysterically popular with the German people, caused Britian and appeaser nation's to look spineless and weak, prolonged WWII due to inaction, and resulted in the largest, most expansive, expensive, bloody war in world history. It cost trillions, needlessly expended the lives of millions of men and women in both the military and citizenry. It decimated the industrial capacity of Europe which took decades to rebuild as well as the abhorent evil stain upon mankind as a result of jewish concentration camps.

We would all like to bury our head in the sand, as you and others advocate. But we all know reality. The evil that existed in Nazi Germany is still with us today in the form communism, socialism, fascism, fanatic extremism and is dressed as Pol Pots, Khmer Rouges, Mao Tse Tung's, Bin Ladens, Ahmadinejads, etc.

The American response was appropriate. And, in fact, I believe a strong message would have been better. Teddy Roosevelt would have had the entire 7th fleet on maneuvers, and flowen half the nation's war planes along the demilitarized zone. That message would have been chrystal clear.

That guy is seriously screwed in the head. KJI is about ready to pass on soon enough. Heck if his son has any brains then he would pull the trigger/plug himself.

Atleast he is young enough and indoctrinated enough to start the conflict that will reunite the Korea's. The DPRK will soon be an acronym in history books.

S. Korea and China have a 160 billion dollar trade agreement. China spends 3-5 billion dollars a year on N. Korea. Who do you think they will side with? Plus they'd have all that border land to make transporting the goods from one to another easier. not just to mention cheaper.

Poor Kim is the one of the last of the comic regimes. He lives for the attention. Rather than being scared he is just the class clown and loves the attention. To suggest he want to be friends makes me think you are a bed wetting mommy's boy. Or at least you live in California. I say we give Kim a trip to Chuck e Cheese and let him play Wack a Mole for a while.

Amassing weapons and fax machines while your people starve is not the behavior of someone who just needs a hug...you fool.

I agree with previous posters. As someone who lives in South Korea and hears military jets circling the air on a daily basis, I'm going to go ahead and say that they do pose a threat. Civilians and military have already died just this last month from a North Korean attack.

It's true, they might be behind the times, but they've caught up enough. California is my home and one of the biggest realizations I made when I moved to South Korea was that it's an incredibly SMALL country. In fact, it's only 120 miles from the capital of North Korea to the capital of South Korea. They really don't need long range computerized missiles to attack.

Oh please! We should sympathise with Kim Jong Il! That's going a little too far preaching "bullying" against Kim the poor picked-on kid. The guy's a nut-job. And so are you.

Joe of AZ 10:14PM December 22, 2010

Don't forget ... the first atomic weapons were first conjured up during the 'TELEGRAPH" age.

JOE of AZ 10:06PM December 22, 2010

N.Korea is a threat, because of their backwardness. Look at all the crime created in America, done by poor or oppressed backward people. This is not a laughing matter. I think, if someone would diplomatically talk with Mr. Jong Il, there could be a compromise.. Mr. Il is probably scared and wants to be friends but, how can he, if others are always teasing and mocking him? I thought we, as Americans, were better than that. We talk about kids teasing and harassing other kids and say that it's not right because so many teens commit suicide but, Mr. Jong Il will not commit suicide, he'll commit world war because he's so frustrated and angry at his naysayers and gossipers, which is what we do not want. All of you criticizers out there, stop and think what you're saying and doing. We should leave this up to our World Leaders to work out and not be so damned quick to judge.
