WikiLeaks is High-Stakes Paparazzi, Not Journalism

WikiLeaks is not journalism. That's a fact. But it is a publisher and that is all it is. The authors who write what is published are not a part of WikiLeaks, they only submit 'stories' to be published. Therefore, I believe the site, and others, as long as the publications have been authenticated, could be the best web site the world can benefit from. In time, no more secrets. The people of this earth will learn how they are and have been manipulated by the Elitists.

I am surprised by now that nobody on any level has pushed for the Taking down of Assange the leader of this terrorist act of sabotage and direct Internet attack of America. This is a solid act against America.......who has done zero to this man. Take him out, put him down, where is Homeland Security when you need them? Do something. Neutralize this threat. The day the attorney general spoke he was going to brag about shutting down web site for illegal music. Guess he did not want to mention that along with WikiLeaks.

New York times refused to print the ill-gotten GREEN emails. Yes they published WikiLeaks.

Now the guy who posted is wanted for arrest. Guess enough damage to Hillary has been done. Countries will really trust us now. Did barry have prior knowledge and thinking of 2012 ???

the leakers name isn't Scooter Libby or any other republican under the sun , might be some action to stop this and prosecute someone then .

May-be on the other hand , Obama doesn't mind the continued down grading of America , why else hasn't it been stopped ? Valarie Plame , one person that was not undercover for years , compared to how many people this effects .

So,here again, let me be clear here,as WikiLeaks spells the End of Obama & Clinton! And I will say to all those that were daydreaming of the Democrats running now discredited and disgraced Sec of State Hillary Clinton instead of

Der Leader from Kenya Barack Hussein Obama for President in 2012,simply just

forget that stupid idea here and now, since WikiLeaks has shown how totallly

arrogant, clueless, and incompetent Hillary Clinton has been and remains as the

Obama Sec of State as well as what a clueless corrupt power mad incompetent

laughingstock of the world that ONE TERM ONE Barack Hussein Obama and his

pathetic Team Obama, including Hillary Clinton really are as well. The only way to

restore any faith and trust or confidence in the USA now, simply comes down to

the Impeachment of Barack Hussein Obama and FIRE Hillary Clinton,Eric Holder,

Janet Napolitano,Leon Panetta and all the rest of Team Obama plus the Immediate Expulsion of Democrat House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, and her

Crew of Fools Steny Hoyer,James Clyburn and Senate Democrat Majority Leader

Dingy Harry Reid or the USA will be forever the Laughingstock of the World!

" Does the public interest—and public interest cannot be defined as simple prurience—outweigh the dangers releasing the information could cause?

"The Pentagon Papers fall into the category of documents Americans had the right to know about."

Did they really? Why made that determination? Daniel Ellsberg and Ms. Mulligan?

It was the Pentagon Papers and the government's screwing up of the case against Daniel Ellsberg that began all this! Who was Ellsberg to make this determination? NOBODY!

And what, I wonder, was the future Secretary of State doing and saying when the Pentagon Papers were published and she was a left wing militant at Yale Law School. When he was in his Senate confirmation Justice Thomas was asked what he said about Roe v. Wade when HE was in law school (the same one at about the same time) but not one member of our media has asked either The Witch or any of her associates at the time about her attitude about the Pentagon Papers, which gave rise to what we have now, at the time they were published by the establishment media.

There are many people who might be asked about what her attitude was. She was active in Joe Lieberman's first campaign for the State Legislature at the time (1970) along with future film critic Michael Medved and future stock market analyst Lawrence Kudlow. Those are three people who might, just might, have something to say about this. There are many others but, as they have done throughout her career, the media, the left wing media, have given her a pass! This is a relevant piece of information and the American people should know the answer.

Again, what was our present Secretary of States attitudes and opinions when the Pentagon Papers were, as liberals put it at the time, "liberated" by the New York Times and Washington Pest?

Instead of blaming Wikileaks, blame the feds for making it so easy to download such information. Judging by what Wikileaks has released, downloading top secret information is about as difficult as downloading a song from iTunes.

The idea of prosecuting Assange is an idiotic one. First, he is not an American citizen. He owes this country nothing. Second, the download happened in Europe. How on earth are you going to prosecute someone who's not a citizen for something that happened overseas. Third, Assange is (probably) in Europe. Good luck getting him over here!

Colette of SC 12:10PM November 30, 2010

Who are we/they kidding???

If the stories about dialogue between national security groups can be detected by the 'average' reporter, who is to say that the reporters at Wikileaks should be held responsible?

The real culprits are those that are in charge of National Security, not the press!

Let's look into how we handle classified information!

It is a good thing that Wikileaks exist! They highlight what is wrong with our broken system!

They highlight the inefficiencies of our security organizations!

Blame the current administration for defaultoing on their job!

Frank Drozdick of MA 11:16AM November 30, 2010

Many free thinkers believe that wikileaks is a good thing. These same 'patriots' erroneously believe that most sensitive documents are military secrets when in fact economic espionage - stealing (or protecting) technology of all types of products from production to transportation, as well as information is the chief goal of many countries. It is much cheaper to steal technology than to conduct R & D. We must prosecute Mr. Assange as thief, spy and general criminal that he is, as well as those who protect him. For the truly free exchange of ideas, information given or communicated in confidence must be protected especially between senior and subordinate and especially diplomats. Maybe that seems an oxymoron, but until human beings stop being emotional and act more like unfeeling robots, sacrificing all personal desires for the collective good there will be competition amongst countries and members of the human 'race'.

JS of NY 10:54AM November 30, 2010

Obviously there have to be limits when sensitive information is disclosed. As far as matters of national security are concerned I agree that Wikileaks should not be allowed to reveal military and defense related information. You are right Assange is not a journalist. I am not sure if he has claimed to be one.

But I disagree with your broad assessments of Assange and Wikileaks “..high stakes Paparazzi… "Too many people have lost the ability to distinguish between speaking truth to power and just being an irresponsible jerk."

I am sorry I did not find your article very impressive.
