Conservatives' Rhetoric on Economy Could Haunt GOP in 2012

"By all means, salt the latter news with a reminder that its source is Mr. “Goldilocks Economy” himself."

Just a little "salt"? Kudlow has zero credibility predicting any economic moves at all. Why does Galupo even quote this? Because "Larry Kudlow" is a famous name? Is there any other reason? He's a TV broadcaster with a very clear record of being WRONG ALL THE TIME.

If the economy is going to be doing as well as you suggest, then what argument is going to matter in 2012?

But do go look a bit at history. The recession in the early '90s ended in March of 1991. The best guess is that the most recent recession ended last July or thereabouts. So the 1992 election--the one that was about the economy--was further from the end of the recession than the elections will be this fall. And the 1994 elections--which are generally thought to ahve been a reaction to the slow recovery--were even further from the end of the recession than the 2012 election will be.

Personel income fell 3.2% since Obama took office and now they are considering raising taxes to make up for the shortfall of revenue. The states are already increasing fees and witholding tax returns to cover their already failing social programs.

The reason the main stream media does not get the TEA party movement lies with the fact that the public knows how to find information. We no longer have to be spoon fed what they think we should know. The statistics for unemployment are massaged and published to try and quell the fears of the move this administration is making torwards an Oligarchy. About the only thing that will stop the removal of all the incumbants in the up coming elections is a declaration of Marshall Law. The bad thing about that is there would have to be some kind of catastophy that happens....... We'll see if Lt. Colonel Lakin's actions speed that time frame up.

How you managed to interpret "fear" out of my rabid disgust for the stupidity of both parties is a mystery to me. You're from Washington (probably Seattle), so I suspect that anyone to the right of Maxine Waters is a neo-con in your mind.

I must go now and meditate.... Nah, on second thought that's way too much work - a beer and a valium ought to do it.

RL Schaefer strengthens your arguement Mr Galupo, as you can obviously taste the fear in his posting.

The republicans are very nervous about the current economic recovering, and I would argue that more than a few want it to stay depressed just to win political capital. This is sad, and embarassing for their cause.

Yes, the financial standing of our economy is not good, but lets remember who was on watch during the beginning of this recession - Mr Bush. And don't forget about the wonderful policies of Regan that allowed private banks to take risky bets in the first bet.

Case in point, Canada did not follow the US's lead in Reagan's deregulation cry, and not one of their banks collapsed from this crisis - more than 300 US banks are belly-up and the taxpayers are on the hook.

No one party is free from critic, but right now the republicans are holding some very weak cards and the flop is not looking good for them.

We manufacture nothing. Our trade deficit is astronomical. Public sector and union legacy costs are bankrupting the nation. Banks aren't loaning money. Commercial real estate is on the verge of collapse. "Real" un and under employment is around 18%. Business, construction and industry is staggering under costly and time consuming, Draconian environmental regulation. We have out sourced millions of jobs. The southern border is still in chaos. Deficit is 4 times higher now than under Bush (and he was no economic wizard). Interest rates are rising (there goes any housing market recovery). We can't drill for oil or build new hydroelectric dams (worry over fishies and frogs. 12 million illegals want to become democrats. We spend billions on Global Warming and Environmentalist theology. We've abandoned our space program in favor of the phantasm of "green jobs". We're fighting two hopeless wars. Iran and North Korea have nukes and are run by two guys crazier than sh-t house rats. And, the government wants to dismantle our nukes (oh look, let's put on a happy face - the bad guys won't blow us up - we're "special"). Pelosi and company want to pass "cap and trade", raise taxes, cut Medicare and SSI - as well as establish a VAT tax and a national health care system (that won't cost a cent).

Yeah, Mary Poppins, you're right, "the sky has stopped falling" - The whole freakin' planet is about to explode in a gaseous ball of drooling stupidity!

I think it's past the time for my meds - the blood pressure cuff just blew off my arm.
