Medicare, Social Security, Military, EPA, etc.. A nice start would be a 10% cut of all federal salaries. Not only to federal worker make more than their private counterparts, they have better pensions, and job security. Finally the congress should be unable to exempt federal workers or itself from any law that it passes.

As I was driving around town taking care of errands and listening to my favorite station I was surprised to hear the voice of a reputable T.V. personality (I won't mention his name, but he is known to be very critical of Conservatives). And to my surprise, he agreed with the Conservatives on the following issues, taxes and the elimination of some government programs by the Obama admin. His argument is that he's tired of hearing that this admin rather than admitting that they don't have the slightest idea as to what they're doing even after 18 months of running the country and screwing it up with their Socialist programs, are still like children blaming George Bush for the problems that America is incurring. And the only way for them to solve Americas problems is by manipulating funds that are allocated for certain government programs, and to fine American citizens if they don't adhere to the NEW ORDERS of the government. And to raise taxes on its citizens in order to cover the deficit that this admin has gotten America into. Since Obamas becoming president this admin reminds me of the European and Mediterranean countries I use to travel to and saw how the citizens of the various countries lived. It was very disheartening as I witnessed solemness, inertness, misery, and class distinction, but what I witnessed, was really sad was the poverty of the poor. Adults and children dressed in rags standing side by side pushing each other, with their hands out begging for loose change so they can feed themselves and their families. Whole families sleeping side by side under the entrance canopies of buildings at night because they can't afford a single room. And three or more families living together in a one or two bedroom apartment because there is no work. And I will bet you that each of those poor adult souls that were begging, or families living together in the centuries old apartments still had to pay their portion of government taxes. It's true that America is a rich country but its reputation did not come easily. As the wealthy, like dictators with iron fists controlled and ran America for generations with the help of the government. And it was because of the way the workers were treated that unions were created because they were tired of being worked like animals for pennies per hour to feed their families while the wealthy got richer. I guess Obama has forgotten his roots. Instead of helping the minorities and the poor who elected him he has sided with the power structure who see the American citizen as the Golden Goose and our tax dollars as the Golden Eggs. Reverting the accomplishments that have been achieved to the present day of the poor and the middle class, back to the days of slavery and indebtedness for all Americans regardless of color. Is this the kind of life you desire for you and your family, to be taxed and dependent on the government? IF NOT, VOTE OUT THE DEM/COMMUNIST this year and especially OBAMA in 2012!!!

It is not about Republican or Democrat. Our government is a mess, our school system is a mess, our financial system is a mess, our judicial system is a mess, our country is a mess - wake up people. The responsibility starts with everyone of us. We can sit here on our computers pointing fingers or start taking responsibility for ourselves. It is the difference of focusing on the negative and feeling helpless or understanding that by acting positively we can be proactive. "Revolution" it means a drastic and far-reaching change in ways of thinking and behaving. Americans have been greedy, sarcastic and selfish for decades. Right now we are facing the consequences. Cause and effect, most of us learned about it in elementary science but have ignore the reality. Our country is failing because of the choices everyone has made. America the super power where everyone wants to live the "dream". We have allowed our government to take too much power by expecting them to provide a safety net for all of our problems. With too much power comes greed and corruption. I am disappointed every time I hear a citizen say "it doesn't make a difference the government has all the control" we gave it to them, why can't we take it back. We live in a country where we still have the freedom of speech, and the right to hold public assemblies. We need to let "our leaders" know what we expect. Every senator and congress person has public websites and methods of reaching them. Utilize the tools given us and let them know what we expect. They are after all public servants paid by the tax dollars we have to work hard to give them. We have the right to educate ourselves and explore facts. Don't just buy into the media. Please Americans remember what principles this country was founded on. We need leaders that respect the constitution and their civic duty, not the power and their paychecks. It starts with us. The American people, we have lost our own self respect and replaced it with narcissism. Remember to care about a greater purpose, respect ourselves, respect each other and respect our country. Don't be afraid to expect the best. I have learned as a teacher that the more you expect from children the more they will do for themselves. It is the same with all of us, we should have high expectations of ourselves and our future. We became great because our ancestors worked for it, we don't have to give up in failure and shame. There are still people who believe that. I hope that we can all do our part to make this country and the people in it great again.

The number not running in Democrat party is growing to large to ignore. Stupak took a meaningless Presidential piece of paper as cover for his change of vote.

And bribes for votes is too common not to suspect. Is Pelosi trademark.

I hear liberals jump to conclusions with much less evidence than I have.

Save your outrage. Not becoming on you...

that you two (Bill and Schaefer) would pipe in with some mean-spirited comments....Stupak was an honorable man who dedicated his life to public service, first in law enforcement, then in the House. You may disagree with his vote, but that is no reason to treat him with vile disrespect. The Conservatives really have turned into a bunch of ugly, sour folks who think that threats make them right, and no one is allowed to have a different view.

Regarding the budget - the writer is correct - Americans want it all - pay no taxes, but get all the services and wars and government contracting jobs. Not much reality or real knowledge in the decisions of the average voter - they have been conditioned to respond in a knee-jerk fashion to any comments about taxes.

So - How many millions work for the government, or on projercts for the government...? let them all give up their jobs, their roads, their educations, their healthcare, their retirement, their clean water and safe food, their air traffic controllers etc.etc.etc....

One clear and practical suggestion was made in an article by Fritz Hollings (retired Senator from South Carolina). I include the link here, for those who are brave enough to read it. He balances the budget and pays off the debt.

Bart's pro-life ideals turned to mush when faced with Shrieking Shrew Pelosi's bullying, and the Democrat, backroom machine.

Unborn children will be dismembered in the womb because of his cowardice. Not a nice legacy, Bart.

Instead of facing voters for voting for health care. A least his pockets will be full of our money...
