GOP Would Cut Tsunami Warning Funding

I'm surprised you didn't pull something out of the green liberal play book and blame this disaster on conservatives. Because, after all, progressive liberals don't believe in God. Therefore someone or group should be blamed and punished for the damage caused by the disaster.

Who to blame??? CONSERVATIVES. How???? Global warming. Global warming caused tetonic plates to shift because, venerable science has shown that heat causes expantion. But what where did that heat come from to cause expansion??? Global warming caused ocean temperatures to rise the warmer water caused the ocean floor to expand which caused tetonic plates to slip and shift!! Therefore global warming caused the 8.7 and 8.9 earthquake which caused the tsunami which caused the destruction.

It's easy to blame conservatives for global warming since conservatives are capitalists. They own factories and have the largest carbon footprint because, unlike a lesbian couple, they are married with children and grand children. According to Al Gore, carbon causes global warming. Since capitalists and conservatives have money, the largest carbon foot print, we should blame them for the disaster and tax them for their enormous footprint and force them to pay for their "man-made" disaster. Causation and correlation . . . classic liberal thought process.

This tsunami is probably just another "natural" disaster that those damn bush loving neocons started somehow. The truth will come out man.

How many deaths and how much damage does it take "just a few" times in a century to make tsunami funding worthwhile? I'm a "lib" and yes I have been very concerned about a lot of the kneejerk defunding proposed by the Right's politically -- rather than rationally -- based actions. Of course, let's defund weather related "pointy head" scientists because they are all wrong on global warming, etc etc.

Pretty shameless. And weak. Presumably the National Weather Service, like any other entity, is capable of prioritizing spending; and if the tsunami warning center is truly crucial it can be funded out of the remaining 72 percent of this year's budget figure. But don't let that get in the way of a cheap political hit.

It takes one time, Hugh. It's not as if Japan is being attacked by tsunami left and right. Hawai'i of course is not, either, but it can and will happen, eventually. So, why not have those systems in place for when such things will occur?

(since it says international, I'll have you know I'm from PA, currently in Taiwan.)

Doesn't take long after a tragedy of this magnitude for the libs to start attacking the rights policies on where to cut and by how much.

Hahahahaha

Then again, how many times does Hawaii get attacked by a tsunami anyway....

Oh the right is just so evil!!!!!
