Poll: Birthers Now Make Up a Majority of Republican Primary Voters

To be natural born means that both parents are citizens of the this country born here and not that one of them being here is on a student visa subject to immigration status. Just so Bow Tie Bob gets it right he probably didn't mean, "A mere 28 percent of the GOP primary electorate responded, correctly, that the president is a natural-born American citizen." He assumes that Barry's daddy was a US citizen... we know his momma was. Native born.... yes. Natural born........?

I know who won the elections in the last cycle. I know that this must irritate Bow tie Bob but it needs to be said. You need to deal with it...... you lost. There is a reason why you lost. Your ideology.

This is for Dave in HI. I would be more worried as to how in the 70's he got a Social Security number registered in Conn. when his first job was in HI. Ask any liberal.... ah never mind...... they usually wear bow ties.

I haven't read US News and World Report for a long time. When did it become so partisan?

"This is from WeAskAmerica, which TPM says is a GOP-friendly outfit, and is an automated poll...

The firm asked two questions: basically, which side are you on, the governor's or the unions', and should the Democratic legislators report back to Madison. On the second one, of course a majority said yes, by 56-36%. But on the first question, 43% approved of Gov. Scott Walker's plan against collective bargaining, and 51% disapproved. Interestingly, even non-union households were evenly split at 48-46% (within the margin of error)...

This surprises me a bit, and pleasantly so of course, but it goes to show one way in which inside-the-Beltway conventional wisdom is more conservative than regular people are. Most people just don't hate schoolteachers, and aren't going to be worked up into a frenzy against them, and don't think them greedy either..."

This is a "non-issue" to most GOP members. It seems to be brought up more often by left-leaning pundits than by anyone else. Obama's birth and schooling in Hawaii are commonly known to Hawaii residents.

The stirring of the coals by the left keeps this issue in the news.

While these results don't sound surprising, I'm not sure I'd put a lot of faith in this poll. The sample size is only 400, which sounds a little small to be considered representative of all GOP primary voters.

"Since when has it been custom to request or demand school records of ANY public official?" - please do yourself a favor and read the requirements of a United States President. Your records are not necessarily private either

i.e: applying for a job, applying for colleges and universities and getting your drivers license ... all three of these examples require records and/or proof of citizenship.

and to this statement: " I don't recall such issues being raised toward anyone in Congress, Presidents Bush, Clinton, Bush, Reagan, Carter, Ford or Nixon." well because there was never an issue of their birth certificates or legitimacy of their Citizenship. Sadly the political machines have come to the methods of 'mud slinging'.

and to be frank, when Barack first began running for president he kept his past and his records quite private; when being considered for being the next leader of the USA, you might not want to be too secretive it may result in distrust.

<<it is in fact Boehner's job to tell the American people what to think.>>

The arrogance and disrespect contained in this statement is stunning, absurd and, especially since early 2009, becoming an all-too-familiar refrain in the public dialogue.

<< (Obama) can choose to release them.>>

I would suggest, especially in view of his promise of 'transparency' and since he has nothing to hide, he should do just that! I believe it would strengthen his image.

<< Don't be surprised when people are suspicous if you refuse to show it. >>

Right on. Human nature.

<<Jurors, by law, are not to assume a defendant is guilty or "hiding something" by choosing not to present an argument. >>

Correct. Although often ... they DO. And your high-handed judgmental position full of condemnation of innate human tendencies is worse than useless.

<<Mr. Obama is not obligated to prove his innocence. YOU, his accuser, must prove his guilt.>>

It's not a matter of guilt or innocence, imo. After all, given the critical issues confronting us at this time in history, it's minutiae. Rather, it has to do with respecting, valuing, and even reassuring the citizens of this country. Mr. Obama should put the issue to bed with a focus on quieting this distracting public discourse rather than playing unnecessary games of hide 'n seek.

I'm thinking of writing one of those Dummies Books. It will be titled "Republicanism for Dummies", and on each page will be, among other things, BE STUPID.

Actually, I'm not sure where I was born....I have only the evidence of my parents and their possibly forged birth cerificate for me....but I can be excused for not knowing---you see, I was less thana day old at the time....what is the birthers excuse....when Obama has the witness of his parents, a legitimate birth certificate, an newspaper notice....oh, they all knew he'd run for and be elected President one day so they lied and forged the documents....I guess I see.
