Republicans Bluffing on Abortion in Healthcare Bill Too?

Question....When republicans are actually in office...what do they actually DO to change the abortion laws? Since I first became really interested in politics, around age 21, I only hear strong anti-abortion rhetoric during election time or when demeoocrats are in office. I have yet to witness the republicans really take action while in office. It would appear they use this highly charged emotional issue to fire up people who think they can vote their way into heaven. Although I am pro-choice, however, it would have never been a personal choice for me. I would hope that another abortion would never happen, but I know that is unrealistic. I wonder how many of these 'baby killer' sign carriers really care about kids...how many have adopted a crack baby, taken in foster kids, volunteered at a Boys/Girls club. TAking these actions can have such a positive trickle down effect that can actually give people an opportunity to show what God's real love is and in turn, prevent future need for unfortunate situations that can end in abortion.

THat's how you save lives!

It's called negotiating, it's called diplomacy, it's called doing whatever you have to do to get the job done. You should try it, it can be quite effective, shmoozing is another term.

It is far more effective than "either you are with us or you are not." You remember that brand of governing that we just experienced from lil bush and the Dick cheney?

US Post Office, Medicare , Social Security, Armed Forces, Medicaid,..pretty sure all of either use these systems or know someone who does...; Of course , irrational ranting generally works best in foggy generalities. Have a nice day!

"Buried in the bill Democrats unveiled Thursday afternoon was a provision related to Student Loans that may be aimed at winning support from the chairman of the Senate Budget Committee."

"Democratic aides told reporters on a conference call that the Bank of North Dakota, in the home state of Sen. Kent Conrad (D), would be eligible to continue to issue Student Loans with federal guarantees of repayment on default. With that sole exception, the measure would eliminate a program..."

Why included in this bill at the last minute was the goverment takeover of student loan program?Where is the talk and concern over this? If this were Bush,God forbid!!HOW MUCH ARE WE ALL WILLING TO GIVE UP????

They(the gov.)need student loans to FORCE more doctors to make up for the ones that will run away from this new takeover.New doctors we the taxpayers will be paying for!!WAKE UP AMERICA!!

How odd polls are against it. Oh yes, Republicans lies. Right. Since they are going to vote, they must have bought the votes. Still, it’s not over.

You don’t like being informed so I know you won’t read my link. Few people for this bill have educated themselves. Since we only pay for 4 years, will be easy to overturn after people speak in November. You must be looking forward to the vote then. Campaign ads will be interesting.

It will be made better. Republican health plan will be passed and in effect date passed. Not 4 years from now.

The Senate Bill is at least less bad than the House Version...

BOTH are HORRIBLE and the Republicans know this!

The passage of either Bill is going to eventually result in the biggest lose of Freedom that American Citizens have ever seen.

Washington already has control of the Banks, your Homes, your Schools, your Cars, your Taxes and know they want Healthcare too?

Managed Healthcare ( like Europe's cradle to grave system) has been the most costly change in America's Healthcare system.

It encourages unnecessary Doctor visits and the Policy costs include the extra expense.

When I walk into a doctor's office and there are more staff handling claims than providing care...

THAT'S a problem!

Wonder why things have gotten so expensive?

If the Republicans threatening to block any reforms to the Senate version will at least make some Democrats THINK, it seems to be a worthy ploy.

These Bills are hugely unpopular and have diverted attention away from OUR real problems...

JOBS, HOMES,affordable food and energy!

Wake up Washington...

We're paying attention

When it comes to health care, Canada, Europe and Japan--other industrialized countries--have it much better than the U.S. That is a fact. We spend almost twice as much per capita on health care while delivering quality of care that is inferior by a variety of measures. For example, we are last in life expectancy and the worst in hospital errors that lead to death.

The high costs of health care and the resulting lack of access mean thousands upon thousands of Americans die every year when they are seriously ill or injured. And let's not forget the diminished quality of life suffered by those who hang on to live. And the medical bills that account for 60% of personal bankruptcy--unheard of in other advanced countries.

The health care reform won't give us the same health care as in those other countries that, for example, provide a public option. It's only a step that hopefully will be picked up in future legislation. It's a start. We need to change our midset regarding health care as a for-profit enterprise to what it should be from the start: a basic human right.
