CNN is MSNBC lite! Which way will they go.... That's like asking if the president is a marxist.... YES!

Her relentless efforts to be a male makes for entertaining television. Also Kieth Olbermans's relentless attempts to act as gay as possible is also entertaining. I like MSNBC

It appears, unfortunately, that the halcyon days of objective news reporting have passed. The majority of the "news shows" on both MSNBC and Fox are unwatchable, obvious opinion pieces masquerading as news.

Let's hope that CNN doesn't follow that subjective route in a fit of ratings panic. Here'a another take on cable news bias:

Oh, yes, Dave G of MA. That's exactly what we should do. Muffle this radical free press and dispense only what we think the public should know! Of course, we have to have the right people in government to make those decisions, don't we? We can't have just anyone. Our current administration has the right idea about castigating news outlets they don't agree with or who don't agree with them, but they are just too slow to act, I think. What we need is someone like Joe McCarthy. Or Maybe Joe Stalin. Adolf and Idi were very good also. You schmuck. The press is not responsible for anything, especially for the "current state of affairs". Dimwits like you are! It is most emphatically NOT the "duty and responsibility of government to create the even fabric..."(what kind of pig slop is that?). Do you know anything about the U.S. Constitution? Have you read it? Can't you find someone to explain it to you? It's about not allowing government to intrude excessively on the lives and liberties of American citizens. Excessively means they stay the ---- out except for purposes of the common defense, international trade and relations, provisions of interstate commerce and the promotion of the general welfare of the nation which, by the way, contrary to the mistaken perceptions of Pelosi, Reid and Hoyer does NOT mean social welfare checks and socialized medicine.

FOX has mainly ranters, the worst being Beck, Hannity and O'Reilly. They shout down their guests unless patently right wing. They have little regard for facts, so support windbags like Limbaugh and snipers like Coulter and Bachman. Their desire to spread fear and ignorance emphasizing red-meat topics that strike the hearts of emotional religious and xenophobe listeners is disgusting to anyone who has a decent education, can find Colorado on a map and who has some knowledge of the outside world. The Sunday morning talk show is the only program I can watch all the way through. Even there, their pundits are neo-cons like Kristol and Ingram. The host is the only thing that saves it.

MSNBC is definitely biased - but no more so than FOX - so FOX watchers cannot claim MSNBC is more extreme. MSNBC does pay more attention to facts, and is at least honest about their bias. Somehow FOX keeps trying to pretend it is centrist - and that is truly a lie. Rachel Maddow is the best in the bunch - and she really digs behind the scenes to find out who really is behind organizations and ideologies. Her best "out" was when she exposed Dick Armey. FOX hosts Beck, Hannity and O'Reilly's IQ's together could not total her IQ.

So where does that leave CNN? I liked them best when they were straight news - not the high graphics and entertainment gadget gurus. They could put away the "interactive map" and really do something remarkable - like cover global news - comparative information about how different countries do things. Fareed Zaccharia is a breath of fresh air - and his intellect and global perspective is something sorely lacking on all channels. He is a keeper! So is Amanpour. CNN also needs to find medication for Lou Dobbs. His program used to be a solid business news program with interesting insights. Now all he does is rant about immigration and sound like Glen Beck. Send Lou to FOX. I turn off CNN whenever I see his xenophobic face on the screen.

I used to turn on CNN when I wanted information - not cheerleading. It was when I wanted a rational view of more than just the three top stories of the day. I wanted original interviews with foreign leaders. Original reports on alternative energy projects. Statistical comparisons of US vs. global economic issues. Real information. CNN needs to return to its original unbiased self - and recreate a peaceful haven of information and a fascinating window into other people, places and ideas. News cannot be just entertainment.

Just my opinion.

Isn't it odd how a question asked in a blog can elicit the most outrageous comments and draw even the least literate out of their holes. Some people seem to think that any platform is suitable for "vomiting" invective. Whether conservative or "progressive", liberal, socialist right-wing radical or down-home independent, the art of civil discourse is absent from modern society. Is it the fault of schools, parents or modern programming that manners are absent and don't seem to be missed? Like any fault we find with our elected officials and their policies, the ultimate responsibility is our own.
