"I cannot figure how MSNBC could be ahead of CNN - guess many lefties appreciate the humor there more than the CNN serious attempt of at least a pretense of journalism".

CNN at one time was good. Darn good. They reported news on an ongoing basis. BUT from day 1 it was slanted via reporter bias. Slanted to the left - like what? 85 % of all reporters? But they were a great source for near reat time news. Of course this was B4 THE INTERNET.

However - it slowly became more and more of simply an opinion journal for the Left. This accelerated way back about the time of the Crossfire days. Now CNN is simply a glossy & classy version of MSNBC. Their opinion panels are all stacked Leftward and half their supposed Republican types are RINOs.

MSNBC is a joke. Anyone who could watch more than 5 minutes of Oberman is a sad cookie. And when he is joined by Odonnell (sp?) we have the two stooges. And I last less than 2 minutes before I click back to Fox. Last night I was clicking around to see election results and MSNBC spent a great deal of time on the Maine Gay Rights issue and in about 1/2 hour did not address VA, NJ or the whacko NY Congress race.

I cannot figure how MSNBC could be ahead of CNN - guess many lefties appreciate the humor there more than the CNN serious attempt of at least a pretense of journalism.

CNN should try this (apparently) novel approach: report news. Their broadcasts are currently - for the most part - still reasonably watchable and rational. (FNC"s morning "Fox and Friends" has got to be the lowest IQ "information" program on the planet: watching it actually manages to be embarrassing EVEN if one does so alone.) CNN's best moment in maintaining SOME standards recently was when the laughable Glenn Beck departed Headline News and ended up on Fox, where he honestly belongs.

Viewers don't need THREE "news" channels of hyperventilating, true-believer silliness. But who's to say CNN hasn't been going that Fox-MSNBC route already? Beck moves out and now HLN drops in (good grief) one "Joy" Behar at 9 PM?

Apparently, America desperately needed HLN to bring abroad the "deep perspectives" of a ridiculous, obnoxious, former LI high school teacher turned comedian pontificating (if that is the right word?) on "global issues"? http://joybehar.blogs.cnn.com/2009/10/30/catholic-church-to-larry-david-urine-trouble/

Why? Because she gets no other exposure anywhere else? We don't know what she "thinks" yet?

If CNN follows Fox and MSNBC over the cliff, what's left for those of us who just desire a news broadcast? Probably stream VOA over the web. Or find a rock to go hide under.

Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck & Co do not need my defending them. There is little they say I do not agree with.

Nor do I wish to change your poitical views. I do believe we all should examine our beliefs and base them upon factual information. Learning and correcting wrong ideas is never ending.

I opposed Bill Clinton's health care plan as I oppoae present mysterious plan. Have found little in Obama's agenda I can support.

To quote a pathetic Rodney King"

"Can't we all just get along ?"

Sorry about the wife...

Bill Hedges of MO 12:34AM October 30, 2009

I guess we all get carried away with words. It is the lack of restraint shown by Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck & Co that has infuriated me the most. I was just on the Fox News Web Site and read this article related to a media contest on health care by the DNC. One of the videos being considered uses an American Flag to make its points. While I can understand how it would offend some people, the implied criticism by Fox News and commentors is in contradiction with their earlier defense of the First Amendment and Freedom of Speech. So I find it incredibly disrespectful when indiviudals label our President a communist, socialist, nazi, antichrist, etc... Having said that you were always respectful in your comments and I could have shown more restraint. What can I say I love to argue which is probably why my wife is divorcing me! I appreciate how you responded and your openess to debate. Hope to spar ideology with you again!

Stock market doing good so I sold my stock and bought new. So I have a little time to respond.

You must be right about global warming thing. I must of made mistake. Bunch of lins come up with the first link now.

Not really wanting to read the long article if I guessed right one you meant. If your point was does Fox make mistakes like all other network news I agree.

…..

“I could not make any sense of your second statement concerning Fox News and the Pew Research. Would you restate?”

I’m afraid I’m tired. If you had done as I do I could answer. As you see I have been putting your quote, then responding. I try to do that each time. But not done 100%. The numbers of comments are confusing my tired mind.

…..

“Related to the Gallup poll. I don't understand how you equate "moderates" to "independents". You are confusing "moderate" which is an ideology (conservative/modertae/liberal) with "independent" which is political party classification (republican/independent/democrat).”

I did not use moderate. I will copy”

…..

“Lastly, per a recent Gallup poll. Conservative account for only 40% of voters with Moderate and Liberals accounting for 60%. Further approval rating for the GOP is at an all time low at 36%“

. Why did you lump independent and liberal together ??? As I recall Conservatism was in 40’s, independent 30’s , liberals 2o‘s...

Some reason on this part no links. Didn’t find poll I wanted but here is link:

“Generic Congressional Ballot”

“GOP Holds Lead for Another Week on Generic Ballot”

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/mood_of_america/generic_congressional_ballot”

…..

Aren’t you mistaken ???

………………………………..

“I do complety agree with you that Fox News and Right Wing Radio shows are much more entertaining than traditional news show. They are not limited by the facts! By the way I do differentiate between being a "conservative" and being a "right winger".

Well it is cute what you said. I guess the added words and thoughts you added to my speech can be spit out. And you saying "not limited by the facts!"

I prefer you be honest and own up to your own opinion and leave me out.

I am not going to argue with you that what you call entertainment is in reality telling truth without blinders.

I am trying not to denigrate obama here. Limiting myself as best I can. I would appreciate you would show some restraint with me when directing comments to me. Then we are respecting each others beliefs.

I wish to take the high road. Coloriful cutting remaks I can do. I rather not.

Fair enough ???

Bill Hedges of MO 12:06PM October 29, 2009

I did not understand several parts of your reply. The first website I pointed you to as nothing to do with Global Warming. You may have mistyped the information. It is http://mediamatters.org/research/200910130047

I could not make any sense of your second statement concerning Fox News and the Pew Research. Would you restate?

wahoo59 of FL 9:43AM October 29, 2009

I have to admit I struggled making sense of your response. The first web site I pointed you to http://mediamatters.org/research/200910130047

as nothing to do with global warming. You may not have typed in the information correctly.

I did not understand at all your comment of Fox News lack of objectivity and the Pew Research. Please restate.

I also don't understand how you equate being a moderate which is what the Gallup study to being an independent. Party classification is republican/independent/democrat. Ideology is conservative/moderate/liberal. You are mixing the two and confusing the facts.

I do agree that Conservative TV and Radio are better entertainment as exemplified by the ratings. But let's not confuse it with News which is supposed to be fact based reporting.

wahoo59 of FL 9:34AM October 29, 2009

Don't have time for your part 2. Stock market opens in 2 minute....

You have every right to your opinon. Just thrown in some reasons, facts, etc. into the mix.

Conservatibe tv and radio is doing very well thank you. They will go on doing well without you.

As obama approval ratings goes down...

And polls for obama agenda does poorly.

Bill Hedges of MO 9:32AM October 29, 2009

You don’t expect me to accept the blank statements in first comment do you ??? No reasoning, examples, or facts.

Your first link I don’t understand your point. I’ve read up on global warming, err, global change. Do you know why they changed the name ???

Your second link what is the problem.

On same article read my ‘Name calling stupid’. The shows very close bars. Conclusion seems off as you quoted, however, the comment I refer to in this paragraph covers your belief.

…..

“Lastly, per a recent Gallup poll. Conservative account for only 40% of voters with Moderate and Liberals accounting for 60%. Further approval rating for the GOP is at an all time low at 36%“

…..

“Lastly, I never made any personal attacks in my poll. I don't see how a comment "of dividing America" is a put-down. Actually, you just proved my point.”

Interesting you failed to give your point. You see I lived through the 60’s and remember racial division. “divided America” does have bad connotation no matter your opinion.

“So if you want to have a fact based debate, bring it on. If that was the best you could do, go back to listening to the radio or watching Fox News.”

Well let me pat you on the back along with you doing it as well.

Your first Comment was lacking any sort of reason just blank statements.

Your second one was much better. There is no conclusive evidence on global warming, err, change. In England when they show Big Al’s film they must give a disclaimer that film is a political film and not proven fact. As ordered by their Courts.

From my first comment “Evidently their ratings show observers like Fox. In fact, generally speaking, Conservative tv and radio do better.” you don’t seem to dispute.

But anyhow, I come on here ever so often. I tend to comment on ones void of logic to their statement. I dislike blank statements. As an example, I would never say ‘ During campaign obama opinion would change on a dime to gain a vote’.

So depending on when I drop by and if your comment interest me, we may meet again.
