Conservatives v. Republicans in New York 23 Race

To Darin of KY,

Hey, how'd that "majority who voted out the Republicans last year" do in Virginia? How about in New Jersey? The People's Republic of New Jersey, a state to the Left of Soviet Russia, couldn't vote in a Democrat. Oh, and by the way, the idiot idea you have that McCain was Conservative in anyway suggests a severe mental handicap on your part. Oh, and if I'm so dumb, why weren't you able to answer any of my questions? Would any of you Democrats support a Democrat supported by the Christian Coalition? Hell, where was the support for Zell Miller? Or the "Blue Dogs?"

Kevin of OH & Wake up people of MD:

You'll take the cake for even pretending to be informed citizens, but your denial of Republicans being a dwindling minority mocks the majority who voted out the Republicans last year. It almost sounds like plain old anti-democratic rhetoric and maybe you'd feel more at home in Iran where dictators tell you what to think, say and believe.

What a croak: "conservatives are the majority in this country" ...

The country rejected the reactionary conservative values of McCain/Palin last year.

Its old news. The mere 23% percent of the country still Republicans anymore keep peddling their addiction to misinformation. Being socially conservative and fiscally liberal is more rightwingnut dribble we don't need to revisit since we all know what kind of mess Bush left us.

Clue: Lots a people watch Pro Wrestling on TV, too, but at least most those viewers realize its all fake. The some measly market share of dumb TV and radio shows is nothing compared to the majority of Americans who elected the current Democratic Congress and Democratic Administration.

Sounds like someone needs to turn off the boob tube and take a time out.

These claims by the Left that the Republican Party is falterin and radicalizing is ridiculous. Firstly, these "Moderates" being ousted are Democrats. Scozzafava was endorsed by ACORN. Would any of you Democrats support a Democrat supported by the Christian Coalition? You are all being hypocrits and extremely dishonest. Hell, where was the support for Zell Miller? Or the "Blue Dogs?" Finally, to claim that the Republican Party is radicalizing ignores the fact that we currently have one of the top five most radical politicians in the history of this country in the White House.

Wow, I've discovered another unbiased media source!!

You should really check your facts; there is a second congressional race going on in CA 10th CD next Tuesday between another constitutional conservative and a left-leaning democrat.

Regarding Conservatives vs Republicans, you simply need to go back and read the founding documents to understand that what Conservatives want from the Republican & Democrat Parties. They want the politicians to stand on the princibles upon which this country was founded. It is quite a simple formula and the only one that has historically worked well.

A 3rd Party: when you say "rejecting all ideas except their own;" are you talking about the ideas they'd like to bring to the table in Cogress where they are shut out of any and all discussions by this "transparent, bipartisan, open-door" administration?

All Politics are Local: check your facts too; the conservatives are the majority in this country. You can check that fact not only by examining the polls, but look at the market share of Fox and conservative talk radio. Liberals will never be a majority.

I Don't Vote: I doubt God believes we should have anarchy on earth. BTW-The definition of principle is a truth or general law. Conservative principles are based on God's law. What are you talking about?

BTW-Mr. Schlesinger: I see another story above about CNN going the way of Fox like MSNBC. Are you kidding? If you watched Fox News, you would know how balanced and FACTUAL they are in their reporting. They actually do research and bring on people with different points of view. How sad it is that our media today doesn't have a clue about what true journalism is. The state of our country today rests partially on the shoulders of the media. I don't know how any of you can look yourselves in the mirror.

The Wacko Right thinks that they can import their rhetoric into backwater New York to raise some conservative standard heralding their arrival on the national stage ...

... except the conservative candidate couldn't give a damn about the local district and its issues. I heard tell he doesn't even live in the district. What kind of Hogwash is this.

Of course NY 23rd is historically Republican, so how can Republicans be losing in this congressional race. All this wingnutery does not show any solid support for the conservative minority.

Just remember the 23rd is the home and last resting place for John Brown, a icon of American protest but a militant liberal Republican.

If conservative values and the party are on the decline then why is it that polls show something different? Is it because you tell the news, but tell it slant? Concern for length, I've only include a sample from the Harris poll:

The Harris Poll also found that conservatives continue to outnumber liberals by 36 to 18 percent but that the largest number of people think of themselves as moderates (41%). The remarkable thing about these numbers is how little they have changed over the past 30 to 40 years. Harris Interactive data over four decades show that the average numbers of moderates have remained at 40 or 41 percent, and that conservatives have only varied between 32 and 38 percent, while liberals have remained at a steady 18 percent since the 1970s.

However, the long term trend for party identification has changed over the last 40 years, with the Democratic lead declining from 21 percentage points in the 1970s, to 11 points in the 1980s, seven points in the 1990s, and (so far) five points in this decade.

I believe that moderates tend to be more conservative leaning than liberal leaning. Meaning that, independents tend to lie more on the periphery of conservative agendas than liberal agendas.

So to take a "Henny Penny" approach to say the Republican sky is falling is to obfuscate facts.

The last Presidential election was not a referrendum for liberal idealogy. As Pelosi, Reid, Obama, Geithner, et al are loathe to recognize. Rather it was a referrendum about career politicians and Washington. That, and media duping society with a carefully crafted machination of Obama in sheep clothing.

So, considering the article. The GOP is throwing weight behind a true GOP candidate rather than see another Benedict Arnold like Olympia Snow or Arlene Specter elected. Why should that raise eyebrows? I would think Dems would do the same.

I go on TRUTH every time, not principle. God runs everything as a King. Jesus Christ will be King of this earth. No voting. No conservative principles. Just truth. http://eli3.tipod.com

The conservatives are painting themselves into a corner and anrrowing their party by rejecting all ideas except their own. It does make you wonder if their party will split into the "liberal" republican and the "conservative" republican party.
