I'm a Democrat. I'm sure Republicans and Independents are thinking the same

thing....we do that from time to time.

Wasn't Obamas lobbying junket to Copenhagen to plead Chicago's case before a meeting of the International Olympic Committee Bizarre?

Equally Bizarre where the pictures of the people from Chicago weeping in the streets

when they didn't get the Olympic pick.

Whats next? Obama landing on the flight deck of a aircraft carrier, dressed in a fight suit, with the banner in the background reading Mission Accomplished.

We live in strange cartoon like times.

Th-Th-Th-Th-Th-Th-Th-Th-Th-That's all folks!

As the above title says, the President needs to wake up. You, Mr. President, are listening too much to what your advisors are pumping in to you. The advisor(s) who told you to make this trip ought to be booted out of the White House. You, Mr. President, just got a wake-up call from the rest of the world. Just because you fly in on Air-Force One with the Chicago group and Opra Winfrey, with all of the pomp and circumstance that a head of state entails, does not necessarily mean you're going to get your way. I would dare say that all of you were totally shocked that you were not able to persuade the IOC to give Chicago the nod. What this tells me is that the President if, not careful, will become just a "bit" player in the world outside of the U.S. If I were Iran and or North Korea, I would not be in the least bit in awe of the President or the U.S. To me, that's the danger that the symbolism of this trip has exposed this country to. This is not good, not good at all.

Here is someone's(only one awake evidently) regarding this latest addition to Obama's highlight reel."If the President can't sell Chicago to the IOC -how can he convince Iran to cease it's development of nuclear weapons"?

It should have been New Orleans that was pressed for instead of the fat-cats of Chicago.

It is NOT funny how New Orleans is forgotten by the left now that there is no political gain to be had.

The larger issue is the unsuccessful bid by Chicago for the Olympics, and by association, the unsuccessful bid of the United States and the country's sitting president who happened to lobby for Chicago.

The foreign policy of the United States presently seems to back off of it's original policy under the Bush Administration. Even so, this policy is more pragmatism than self abnegating constraint; the United States debt has reached 90percent of GDP and still growing, and a harsh winter has fallen on the economy, which seems to have no end in sight, even if the figures point to ebbing unemployment and ebbing economic decline; this decline has sent shock waves around the world and encouraged calls from major trading partners for a basket of international currencies to replace the dollar.

The Middle East seems unhappy and cautious with Washington at best. Iraq is in a state of civil war, the mission in Afghanistan is on the verge of failure, and Iran is touting nuclear weapons; albeit, for fear it might be the next victim of the U.S. war machine. A confrontation with a Nuclear Iran would be catastrophic for the United States given it's present domestic and foreign issues.

The United States, straddled with mounting debt, terrorism, two wars, and economic recession is an empire on the fringe of collapse, but I doubt the United States as a country will ever collapse. This seems likely to be the beginning of the end of the American Empire and the beginning of a multi-polar world.
