Why won't Obama just show his long form birth certificate and stop all this? The longer he delays the more people who doubt him. Geezo.

You birthers do know that when illegal aliens, such as Mexicans come to America, give birth to a bambino, that the bambino is an American. Your argument about all this is so wrong it is STUPID. The GOP is full of really stupid people. What is wrong with you people? No sense at all?

if you'd bothered to check actual law, you might have run across a guy named Chester Alan Arthur; he was the 21st Prez, remember? He was born a few miles from Canada to an American mother & a British subject (who became a citizen after his son's 14th bithday)--when political opponents in 1880 tried to use choprzul's bogus argument, every court shot it down.

No use going any futher after all, because almost none of you wing nuts seemed to remember that state courts cleared John McCain (who was born in Panama)--while we're on the subject, his mentor & 1964 candidate, Barry Goldwater was born in the US but not, like Obama, born in a state (Goldwater was born in the AZ territory a few miles from the Mexican border)

Even if Mr. Obama were to do everything that the "birthers" demand, it could never be enough.

Presumably, a future line of argument by the birthers will be that the XIII, XIV, and XV amendments to the Constitution of the United States were not properly ratified so that any person with "one drop" of "African" blood is not eligible to be a citizen; and, thus, would not be eligible to be President of the United States.

For them, it will never end!

I will try and keep this simple for you AfterBirthers: The document posted does not purport to be the original, but rather a certified copy of the orginal document. This was requested in 1964, roughly 3 years after the birth. Now, Kenya actually ratified their independance in 1963 with it becoming effective in 1964, so yes Kenya was around in 1964. A tiny bit of research on your part would have enlightened you to "...shortly before Kenya became independent on 12 December 1963" found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenya#Post-colonial_history

I could really care less about all of this birth certificate stuff. I am neither a Birther or an AfterBirther. I simply believe in following the constitution and the case law that interprets the constitution. I have posted the LAW, the CASE LAW, and the circumstances surrounding BHO's father's citizenship status.

I suggest you familiarize yourself with the facts and then determine if you wish to continue counting yourself in the AfterBirther column.

What a bunch of babies you 'Birthers' are.

Birthers (edited my me because you all can't spell): "I can't stand it that a black man is President"

Me: Buhahahahahahahahahahahh . . . .

Birthers: "I can't believe everyone is saying I'm a racist cuz I think Obama wasn't born here"

Me: Buhaaaaaaahaaaahaaahhhaaa Stop it Stop It! My gut is ready to split open.

Birthers: "I accept the Kenyan birth certificate as real, even tho Kenya wasn't a country yet, but think the Hawaii Governor, Doctors, and newspapers all lie"

Me: Triple Buhahahahahahahahahahahahah

THIS IS THE LAW: "No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States." READ FOR YOURSELF AT: http://www.usconstitution.net/const.html#Article2

THIS IS THE CASE LAW: "The right of citizenship never descends in the legal sense, either by the common law or under the common naturalization acts. It is incident to birth in the country, or it is given personally by statute. The child of an alien, if born in the country, is as much a citizen as the natural born child of a citizen, and by operation of the same principle." SEE FOR YOURSELF AT: http://www.law.cornell.edu/supct/html/historics/USSC_CR_0169_0649_ZO.html

Note that Justice Gray DOES NOT SAY "...The child of an alien, if born in the country, is as much a NATURAL BORN citizen as the natural born child of a citizen..."

The constitutional requirements for federal elected officials is different. The legislative branch must be CITIZENS, while the executive branch must be NATURAL BORN CITIZENS. Since the requirements are different, there has to be a difference between being a CITIZEN and being a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN. This is supported by Justice Gray writing for the majority in the 1898 Ark decision. He writes that citizens and natural born citizens have the same rights. His choice of words are where the distinction lies. Obviously, the "...The child of an alien..." is different from "...the natural born child of a citizen..." Both are citizens according to the law and in the eye of case law and both are able to hold office inr the legislative division of the federal government, per Article I of the constitution. However, Article II clearly states that "No person except a natural born Citizen..." can be president. Case law (Ark) clearly shows that "...The child of an alien..." is diffent from a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN. The only way to become a natural born citizen is to be born a natural born citizen of TWO CITIZEN PARENTS. Being born to "..an alien" still allows you to be a CITIZEN, but you can never be a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN.

BHO's father was a British subject. "In other words, at the time of his birth, Barack Obama Jr. was both a U.S. citizen (by virtue of being born in Hawaii) and a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies (or the UKC) by virtue of being born to a father who was a citizen of the UKC." YOUR CAN READ FOR YOURSELF AT: http://www.factcheck.org/askfactcheck/does_barack_obama_have_kenyan_citizenship.html

Now, considering what the law says, what case law establishes, and what we know about BHO's father, what conclusions can we draw?

Are laws being broken?

it's sludge stirring. It is obvious you are hammering this issue to cast the shadow of "wackodom" over all traditional conservatives. Additionally, it makes nice cover for the besieged White House - Almost as if you and Rahm were working in concert.

Oh jeeze, now I'm a conspiracy nut too....

BlueDog of CA 12:00PM August 04, 2009

Shame on you Karen Johnson. You accuse people of things you have no idea about.

NO - I don't think McCain was eligible to be POTUS either! So if I think both a white man and a half white/black man is not eligible - please explain to me how that makes me racist?

And - you don't even know the color of my skin! WOW you are presumptive! And here I thought HOPE AND CHANGE were making a comeback...that's what Michelle said!!!
