Нехорошее употребление материальных благ зачастую является вернейшим путем к величайшим невзгодам.

Once again race plays an issue in a supposedly post racial society. from both perspectives they are both wrong, first gates because you just DON'T start with cops, they have all the power over you and they can crush you and in the report make you look bad. second, crowley, because gates proved he lived there. he should've just said "thank you sir for your time, we apologize for the inconvience. heres my name and badge number if you have any problems." then gates should've calmed himself down and just went inside. once again, common sense doesn't make an appearance on the stage.

RIDICULOUS. This whole story is ridiculous. Police have a history of abusing their power, and especially going on power trips- some have seriously huge egos that might I add, bruise easily (because they believe they are doing the right thing 24/7 via following protocol). Gates had every single right to be upset, his personal space is being violated, especially when he said space is under his name! Ludicrous, police officers enforce the law, they should be wary of bringing in their personal feelings to a situation. This is partially a race thing, but if you think about it, what about a human thing? We all get territorial, especially when we feel entitled to it, say around in and around our property (i.e. cars and road rage, boats and boating rage; see the picture?). This was just "house rage," and perhaps the cop could have detached himself from his ego for a second to see the situation for what it was.

I take offense to the criticism of the Commander-In-Chief. As the President and Commander-In-Chief who happens to be African American and totally understands the position of Henry Gates, why should he Not weigh in on the issue, everyone else had a comment and few of those who are commenting will ever have to worry about being in that position as a black man does.I think it's an issue of men respecting men, regardless of their color. I was offered a ob in education from Boston Public Schools back in the 80's and Boston has a history of problems with race relations, which is why the police officer has the job of training other officers in racial profiling. If he is the expert and HE made the mistake of arresting the owner of the house because He didn't like the black man's attitude, what does that say about His ability to resolve a race related issue? As an expert, it's one thing to talk about it and teach it and quite another to practice what you teach. The officer has apparently problems with the practice and one who has problems practicing should not be teaching it.

Resisting Arrest = Severe beating!

And that's the way it SHOULD BE every time!
