REMEMBER....TeXas used to be its own Country, we have oil, industry, farm land, etc....we are the only state in the US to fly with the US flag and our Capitol building is the largest in the nation, now if that qualifies us to be and independent country pls by all means lets do it, but as a DIE HARD TEXAN born and breed in ATX i think as fellow TeXan we need to think of the ramifications this could have on TEXAS OUT TEXAS.

I hope my beloved Mississippi follows suit. If not, ya'll can go to hell, I'm going to Texas.

You yankees can say whatever you want, secession is a right considering it is the states that make up the federal government.

Hmmm. We'll I guess you can call us names all day long. Call us stupid. Whatever you like.

But at the end of the day, most of us are still Texans. And alot more than you might think are Texans first, then Americans.

The current Government does not represent us or most of our views. And you don't either.

We know we don't have the right to secede from the United States. We did however join the U.S. through treaty, not annexation. Which in addition to giving us the right to fly our flag at the same height as the US flag. It allows us the right to abolish the treaty I would assume. But then again. I'm just a stupid Texan.

I take personal offense to the name calling.

You being a Liberal might want to rethink the PC-ness of your statements.

Signed,

Oklahoman by birth, Texan by choice.

I live in Texas, I have done so for the last 15 years. I am an immigrant that escaped a dictatorial regime full of ignorance and ignorants. Came to this country with hope and so far I have found MY American dream, no regrets. I pay my taxes and will continue to do so. I don't think they are going to waste. Can they do better? sure! But you guys have not seen corruption or waste of money. Now this idiot comes to tell us such an stupidity! I not only find him as ignorant and extremist as the one that took this country to the civil war but also he is looking like the ones that still govern the land I left behind. He simply cannot conceive that there is someone else in power, who happens to be from his opposition. I voted for Perry to keep him there; but you can be damn sure I will vote against him as well in the upcoming election.

Funny how Perry at the Texas Tea party never mentioned HIS party's part in raising the national debt to $13 Trillion. Lying snake. All those GOP/Rush devotees had no problem

spending over $1 Trillion on Iraq. Handing billions to Chaney's boys at Haliburton without

competing bids. Creating the very same Homeland security monster that has now branded

them as enemy combatants. This sad episode about Seceding only confirms the danger these

traitors pose to this great country. LOVE IT or LEAVE IT. Just remember you aren't taking

anything that doesn't belong to you. So don't plan on staying in Texas.

Why not, these idiots in washington have no true idea how to fix things, only how to line the filthy rich peoples pockets. Make illegal aliens residents ????? I get a ticket for something as simple as not wearing my motorcycle helmet and have to pay a fine, they can come here to our country with impunity!!!! and get paid to do it!!!! The stupidity in our government makes me sick!!! The time for change is way over due, we should all [every state] cecede!!!!

Greg of MO 1:59PM April 17, 2009

It is a sad day when our President can inspire such a lack of loyalty from some citizens in the great state of Texas. Obama promised change and I guess this is his idea of it. At least he kept one campaign promise.

bluedogdem of NC 1:58PM April 17, 2009

Actually the constitution of the united states guarantees that right to each state under the tenth amendment. the right of secession isnt reserved by the federal government, so it is reserved to each state government or their people. the civil war didnt settle that. in fact lincoln was wrong in attacking the confederacy according to the constitution. (at least by my interpretation of the constitution, but i havent heard one that contradicts it, with any basis in the constitution)

brian of NY 1:57PM April 17, 2009

Texas can do pretty much whatever it wants we have the money to pay off all the politicians in Washington which is all they are really interested in. Our Government is sending our Country into a downward spriral and soon the people of this country are going to have to make a hard choice. Keep things the way they are and the Government will keep bleeding us dry with taxes or make a forcefull change in the way are country is ran. If any one truly thinks the Government is looking out for whats best for the public they need to enter a rehab facillity and lay off the crack.

KAYAKDAD of TX 1:53PM April 17, 2009

Texans would think secession to be a nutball idea. THOSE are the ones we hope will elect the next Texas governor---so no more like Perry (or Bush).
