Amending the Constitutional righs to afford special consideration to a group that is politically connected to the judiciary by infiltration is not democracy. It is the tyranny of the power of authoritarian rule. Bare in mind that Hitler's implementation of National Socialism was implemented by the judiciary and the police power of the state. The judiciary by US Constitution purpose is supposed to be an informative body to the legislature in redirect legislation that violates the laws of the US Constitution. But the US Supreme Court established the precedent that with activist rulings overstepping the advisory and informative legal opinions that should have confined itself to rewriting of poorly written and incorrect legislation by the US Congress. As such the US Congress has abdicated their authority to the US Supreme Court. By Doing so the State Superior Courts have followed suit and now we have the police power of the country being wielded as a rapier across this country in complete violation of the very US Constitution that these bozos swaore on the Bible to uphold with their very own lives.

So you're saying it's not the state Supreme Court's role to rule on constitutional issues? The Supreme Court's role is to schedule a referendum for voters to decide matters of constitutional law?

Yes, I guess we've all missed that point, alright.

I'm sorry, but you guys just aren't getting it. Ones stand on gay marriage should have nothing to do with ones objection to this ruling. For me anyway, it's all about the court thinking it can overstep what the state constitution allows it to do. Let's say the court ruled that the death penalty was legal in Iowa. Wouldn't you want the right to vote on that before the state started sentencing convicted murders to death? In other words, it's all about whether or not the people have the right to determine what happens in this state, whether you want to live by judicial fiat or by the consent of the governed.

Every voter - and I'm talking to each and every one of you - should call their state legislators and the Governor and tell them they need to stop this ruling from going into effect until the people can vote on this issue. And they need to support HJR 6 and get it through the legislature now.

Why is it that every time that Religious People get a taste of the same medicine that they have dosed the masses with all these long years they cry about how they are being treated poorly. Ahh so sad that you have been able to control the weak minded and mold this country to fit your views for all these years but people are getting smarter. The internet is here and people can question anything that they want and get answers other than the ones that all of you want to give them. Imagine how terrifying it is for you to realize that Hipocrates have not place in Heaven and the Doors that you are trying to keep closed on the people you think are less than you are going to be in fact closed to you for what you have done in His Name and claiming to be doing his will contrary to his message of Love. "What you do unto the least of you you do unto me."

Why is it that when you do not go along with what some people say is right we are considered BIGOTS.

The laws of our country are based on the ten commandments which

our founding fathers used to create the laws we live by. Tell me why are some of the laws followed and not others such as

marriage between a man and a women not allowed as being the

correct law to be followed.

Incidentally we in the church are not bigotted because we love the person as God says we should but we are do like the things that they do that which we believe is wrong.

Jack,

I'm terribly sorry you remain confused by simply concepts, despite the simple explanations. I suggest reading my entire post, not reading the first line of each paragraph.

Let me explain: Do you know what genesis means? It means the "origin." Morality is not a concept that originated with supernatural or alien thought or teaching. Morality is a concept that is wholly human in origin - hence the simple concept: The genesis of morality is in human thought and reason.

Does that mean you can decide it's moral to kill your neighbor? Well, philosophically speaking, you can change your own morals to make this acceptable to you, but you cannot change society's morals to make it socially acceptable. So, unless you manage to become the supreme leader of mankind, your personal morals will not save you from suffering the consequences of society's judgement.

Right and wrong does not exist: Jack, the point is that there is no absolute right and wrong. What's wrong yesterday, is right today, and what was right yesterday, can be wrong today. At one time, slavery was considered by many to be "right" and "moral." I hope you would agree that slavery is neither right nor moral today. Right and wrong, like morality, is a human concept, and that concept changes as society evolves.

As for speeding and paying taxes - I think you're confusing "illegal" with "immoral." It is not immoral to drive 100 mph. It is illegal. Your personal beliefs about driving 100 mph will not save you from a ticket.

It is bigotry to hold a prejudiced and intolerant viewpoint: That's just the definition of bigotry, Jack. I didn't make it up. If your viewpoint clashes with those of others, and it's based on reason and fact, then you're not a bigot. If it's based on your irrational prejudice and intolerance, then you're a bigot.

Almost universally, human societies say marrying your mother or your sister is immoral. As a member of human society, I agree.

I hope this clears things up for you. If not, go back and read it again.

Regards,

-Mike

PLEASE let this wave happen fast enough so we can legally end what that crazy Phelps Klan is doing in America.

David KCMO of MO 4:33AM April 04, 2009

Joy and John,

I am always frightened by commentary like yours. This is NOT a discussion about humans marrying dogs, horses or even vegetables. It is also not a debate about marrying my mother, father, sister or brother. All of those laws are regulated by health restrictions and guided by science in regards to stopping genetic diseases.

Why cannot this debate remain focused? What Iowa did today was uphold everything America stands for, Freedom and Equality. The law that goes into effect in 21 days will not change heterosexual marriages nor your religious beliefs. You can remain to be a bigot and backwards in your thought process.

Everything you are saying was also said when blacks were given the right to marry, be free, and vote. Bibles and Church culture was used to tell us how important it was to remain racially pure. There was scripture and verse to back up hundreds of years of racism. It didn't make a difference, many of those Churches were still bigoted.

So as much as you wish not to be called a bigot; you might very well have bigotry deep rooted in your life. I do believe it is your American right to be a bigot, but thankfully your views are not growing; but rather shrinking.

Keep your bigoted religious views out of my Constitution.

ShowMeNoHate of MO 10:12PM April 03, 2009

So why don't all the gays in Vermont pack up and head for Iowa? The Green Mounatin boys would be happy for you.
