The Traditional view of the Biblical meaning of Marriage is not what is viewed at all by modern society. If you barter for your wife with her relatives without her say for goods and livestock and keep her in a servants role without free will or independence, have numerous wives and if she is thought to have cheated then have her stoned to death then you are using the Traditional view of marriage. If you would really care to return to that time of the traditional Biblical view of marriage I suggest you speak with your female relatives. They may have something to say about it if you are in fact claiming to follow the texts as proscribed. This is not the case and using a concocted very resent view about marriage and claiming that because of your personal religious views that others should be excluded from the benefits of marriage based on that premise then your logic is faulty.

Fact is this is a country that all Citizens are to be treated equal and all benefits that one set of citizens get automatically by signing a legal document it is criminal to deny those same benefits from another set of citizens

Gay rights advocates are NOT DENIED equal protection under the law. They have ALL THE LEGAL RIGHTS of Marriage through CIVIL UNIONS.

What is "really" at the crux of the issue is Gay Shame and their desire to co-opt the "term", Marriage, in order to absolve their guilt.

Gay rights advocates display a total lack of respect for their fellow Citizens in their attempts to FORCE OTHERS to accept their beliefs and practices.

Marriage is a TERM. It has a definition describing that term. Gays DESIRE to CHANGE THE MEANING OF THE TERM. This IS NOT ABOUT LEGAL RIGHTS!

We could advocate switching the meaning of 'right to wrong' and 'wrong to right'. But we don't. Even if a vocal minority group wish it to be so.

We call Girls a girl and Boys a boy for cultural reasons. We could change those terms too, if we want. But we don't.

We could change the side of the road we drive on from the Right Lane to the Left Lane. But we don't.

Gay rights advocates are the single most Militant Fascist minority groups in the country. And their 'cause' is corrosive to our society in many ways. This is NOT to suggest that they do not deserve equal protection under the law. They do.

Many of these issues are NOT ABOUT LAW but GAY GUILT AND SHAME.

A number of comments have attacked the traditional view of marriage, specifically as ordained in the Bible. If one is speaking of marriage, then we must look to the source for that institution, which clearly has religious origins, whether they are in Judaism, Christian, Islam, Hinduism or some other belief system. If someone accepts one of those values systems, then it stands to reason they do and should adhere to those teachings. If a person does not accept those traditions, then how do they expect to participate in them, or dictate different beliefs to those who do? If Christianity teaches homosexuality is sinful (as it does); then logically it is an important question if you accept Christian values, but if you do not accept Christian teaching, then logically this is no more significant to you than going to church or memorizing Bible verses. Consequently, Christian teachings on marriage are equally irrelevant to someone who rejects Christianity. So in order to accept the traditions or values of marriage, how is it you accept or intend to participate in a tradition, which in fact you have already rejected? If the argument is that the government recognizes a traditional institution called marriage, largely according to the Christian tradition, I would agree, but if your values system rejects marriage, you do not have the right to dictate to the Christian what marriage is, nor should you want to, and even though you might want those benefits, you can not enjoy them because your values system does not accept marriage.

I agree, divorce should be banned. Over half of all marriages (heterosexual) ends in divorce, so much for perserving the sanctity of marriage. There should be an amendment that criminalizes adultery and spousal abuse, punishable by 10 years in prison. Then only with the conviction of one of those two crimes can a divorce be granted. No other reason for divorce will be accepted. I am sure that people will say that that would be government intrusion on individual rights, but hey, that's what is happening to gays. Or maybe the government shouldn't recognize any marriage, just civil unions, keep marriage to the religious world only. Or, how about any state that has an anti-equal rights marriage amendment, gays should be allowed not to have to pay any taxes.
