Mr. Schlesinger defining "The State of the Union Address". In his own words and I do appreciate it.

Do not forget L kell he voted for the tarp and all the other crap that got us into this mess in the senate ,and when he got to be president he made it 10x worse! how quickly we forget! Private industry needs to be regulated you are right but that doesnt mean taking over like the obama administration did, that goes against everything the constitution stands for. we are a captilist nation not a communist nation!

Obama is only doing what he needs to clean up the mess the previous administration. Additonally, he is giving back to the community through the auto industry, health care, and tax cuts for the middle class. The private industry needs to be regulated - we go into this mess my turning a blind eye to the business sector.

I believe that Obama has bot done enough to be giving a state of the union address anyway. Everything that he has alreay done, all of the bills that he has passed, we have already had, he is just finding other ways to take all of our money away from me and give it to the government. I say we stop with the taxing and start with the giving

I have managed to find one State of the Union text, Ford's 1975 address, that said the "state of the union is not good." Is Ford the only President to open on that gloomy note, or have others also steered away from the usual "the state of the union is good?"

FROM FEAR A POSITIVE TREND RISES

Consumers are reacting, and behavior is reversing to actions not seen since the ‘90s.

This bodes well for a gradual and shallow recovery.
