Tom, I have 12 member's from the W.H. on my e-mail, phone number list. I cannot find either of yours?? Why are you not allowing for it to be avaiable, when every other one I have on my list has it out in the open? Is it due to your scandal by not paying your taxes and had to step down from the HHS. job? I really would appreciate your e-mail and W.H. phone number. Sometimes I have heard your opinion on the health care bill, and the remarks you have made, and I did not agree with you, and wanted to voice my comment, but NO way to reach you. I would appreciate it, if I could get that info. All the 12 I have up there have a contact option, and there is their phone number and e-mail. I will be expecting a response and hopefully with the info. I asked you for. Thanks

I did vote for Obama and still have faith that he can affect change, but this is very discouraging. As a self-employed business person, I too am disgusted that all these elites do not pay taxes. Who the h*** do they think they are? They make the rules in Congress, and they'd better abide by them too. Who are these people that think the rules do not apply to them?! And why do they keep showing up as cabinet picks?!

It's amazing that he's even being considered after this..it just goes to show how ridiclous the lefties have gotten. If this had been ANY Republican it would be tar and feather time!

Mr.Daschle and Mr. Geithner are either dishonest or not too bright. They claim they made an honest mistake in regard to not paying taxes.Well if they can't do their own taxes why are we putting Geithner in charge of everyone else's? The wolf guarding the hen house? Mr. Daschle can now be in charge of Health and Human Services even though he can't do his own taxes!!(I think they are both dishonest)

I think it's an insult to the american people to think we are all gullible.

The age old Republican charge that all Democrates want to do is tax and spend has been dispelled with ample proof that Democrats do not like or want to pay taxes after all.

BS (Bob Schlesinger) your intelligence is slipping. You are now reduced to defending characters who if you used their own words against them would be in jail. I would say your partisanship is showing and you are down to a half a point of intelligence above being the rock of stupidity. What will it take for you to admit that these people are liars who you're promoting. If the common man made these innocent mistakes that these former politicians have made, we're talking jail time. Just admit it! These guys should be in jail unless of course you think they are above the law. Is that what you think?

Su-weet! Daschle dodges $140,000 in income taxes and penalties, doesn't pay his Medicare taxes, claims more charitable deductions than he made, looks really dirty for some of his "advisor fees" and payments from health ins. companies, but the "democrats" don't see any problems with any of that, nothing to disqualify him for the Health and Human Services job. Oops, I forgot, they're democrats, no ethics, morality, honesty, or honor to get in their way! Daschle probably doesn't have a clue why there is any uproar about it! Don't expect Sharpton or Geithner think he did anything wrong! The Messiah doesn't see any problem! There's your "Change", allright! The jackals are breaking into the henhouse!

Is Tom Daschelle the ONLY good knowledgeable man in the entire United States that can provide the services needed for Secretary of Health and Welfare? The only man.....a tax dodger who indicated in 1998 that all tax dodgers should be prosecuted to the IRS letter of the law. We the poor common ignorant people of America would be in jail for the same offense even if we apologized and were "embarrassed" by the findings. YET the DEMOCRATS will welcome him with open arms.....you are all a bunch of pit vipers who have no credibility with mainstream America

keith boyd of GA 8:51PM February 02, 2009

I don't think it's "silly" but it is shameful that the Democratic party/administration which ran on the "change" platform is not withdrawing this nomination. If it was a Republican nominee I'm sure that we would be hearing drum beats to run him out of town or off to jail. What a double standard! and Mr. Schlesinger should be ashamed to brush this off as just being silly.

And to the previous commenter: Are you saying that if you are smart and busy then the tax laws do not apply to you? It only applies to "most of the public that leads simple lives"?

What arrogance!

Peter of CA 7:30PM February 02, 2009

I don't think it's right for people to criticise a prosepctive cabinet member for making a simple mistake. Most of the public leads simple lives but a man as smart and as busy as Mr. Daschle should be given more respect and forgiveness. The government and President Obama are trying to help us. Let's give them some more time.
