This is typical of the government welfare mentality of Alaska...$3000 from the oil company, per person- $18.000 for the Palin household- $427 per each Alaskan in federal government earmarks. I am tried of the new person pointing out how corrupt Washington is when their hands are just at dirty!!!

Let's see...she enriches herself illegally with taxpayer dollars, abuses her power and likes to shoot guns.

I guess she's as qualified as Cheney.

Funny our governor here in Maryland lives in the state mansion in downtown Annapolis with his own cook under state employment at the total cost of alot more the $60 per day. Man I think his driver makes more than that. He portrays himself to be the governor of the people (Dem of course). Seems like Palin is a bargain.

I just re-read the article referenced.

Ummm... Her kids were flying all over the country to the tune of THOUSANDS of dollars? Coach or not, they should have been in SCHOOL, not at the Ididerod, the Basketball Game, or elsewhere.

This woman is woefully short in managing her family to their best interest. There is NO WAY she is qualified to run our country! She'll just tell everyone to take untold amounts of time off, on the government's dime, and say it's OK because "they allow it". Just like she does with her kids. School is their JOB. And the author's citation is correct. There is no obvious benefit to schlepping the kids around the country, calling it "State Business".

Invitations to "bring the family" don't mean "you MUST bring the family". It's a COURTESY, not a requirement.

She appalls me.

Are you kidding me? Not ONCE in 25 years of employment did my employer EVER pay MILEAGE to get to/from work, pay for my lunches, or any other such thing. If she CHOSE to commute, it should be on HER DIME. I can see the occasional ACTUAL business lunch being expensed, but 300+ days' worth?

What a wasteful, mindless, ignorant person! "Letting the cook go" was her CHOICE, not a fiscal decision. She shouldn't be making up for it by claiming a per diem, changing official records of expenses, and having others pay for her family to travel.

BTW: Why weren't her kids in SCHOOL during the convention? My mom NEVER pulled me out of school for a week so she could run around trying to get a job!

Where are her "family values" when she has a sick infant at home as well as an unwed, pregnant teen and another heading for Iraq? She is running around the country trying to get a JOB?

Didn't she make a commitment to the good folks of Alaska to serve for four years as their Governor? And now she's bailing on that commitment for a better job?

Yeah, THAT's who I want 2nd in Command of MY country!

Here is a great resource about Sarah Palin - the most comprehensive page of information on her record and policies available on the Internet ... including videos of her saying her proposed $30 billion pipeline is the “will of God,” her saying a month ago she doesn’t know what the vice-president does, and her complaining four months ago that Hillary Clinton was whining about “sexist” media coverage -

It has in-depth research, audio clips, videos, and links to hundreds of articles, including many from newspapers and TV stations in Alaska. It has rare footage, including her telling the ‘08 convention of the Alaska Independence Party, whose aim is to give Alaska a vote on seceding from the U.S., to “keep up the good work.”

The level of research is tremendous. The site’s editors and volunteers include an Emmy-award winning CNN reporter, the former operating editor of the Christian Science Monitor’s web site, the former head of NPRs News Blog and the Executive Director of the Online News Association -

Stephanie sounds as though she is very fmiliar with this practice hence more knowledge than Mr. Schlesinger. I agree with Terri. People need to do their research and Stephanie's facts highlight the factthat Robert Schlesinger didn't do enough.

Oops.. sorry about the early AM typos.. but not sorry for the comment. What petty stuff. Need to check if there is a Governor's Mansion (or whatever Alaska calls Gov's house) in Juneau. She let the cook go ... I'm sure that the cook's salary was more than $18,000.

Are you crazy? complaining about a $60. buck a night per diem charge in Alaska where prices are inflated and some of the highest in the US? So what? I doubt if that even covered the round trip charge for hier driving home from her office. LOL. 30 lawers and an army of news people in Alaska trying to dig up dirt and twist it so you can sell what you sorry excused for reporters caall news and that is all you could find. Are you on drugs? LOL

Now I remember why I quit buying your pitiful rag!

LOL

I had many friends working on the Alaskan pipe line to transport oil that sometime in the early sixties and soon after Alaska became a state, also when Mrs. Palin was a baby, anyway it is my understanding that the payments to t6he people of Alaska were set up long before that and the oil never gets here it is routed through Canada and exported to other countries such as Japan to supply american interest overseas how do you like that. We need to keep all of our natural resources here and be self sufficient. If some company wants to go overseas and take the jobs they need to sell their product there! not here. Obama wants to recicycle the oil in the "SPR" our national reserve for inferior crude oil he thinks that way we can get cheaper oil. HARVARD?? Pump good oil out pump inferior oil in sell, exchange whatever now that's smart. HAVARD??

DRILL here pump here keep it here! Build it here sell it here Build overseas sell overseas.
