Either some incompetent Republican operative (who, if McCain wins, will probably go on to do targeting at the DoD or mapping for the US Geographic Survey) was told to google a "picture of Walter Reed" and this is what he found, or they really did want to show a school and this is what they think public schools look like.

I'd invite them to NYC to show them the reality of urban public schools, but they might run into one of those dreaded community organizers and I know hockey mom hates the diverse and educated Northeast -- where, I should add, this country they claim to put first was founded.

More needs to be made of this story in the media, especially since the Republicans mocked the staging of the Democratic convention and this is like the mother of all presentation gaffes.

This is embarrassing. How on earth--with 38 million people watching--do you explain your way out of this?

Please -- somebody ask the McCain campaign "What was the significance of that backdrop?"

It is a reasonable question. Why? Let them answer. But please ask!

I thought the Beijing Olympics opening was the home of the fakes until I saw McCain drone on under a giant fake image. No one noticed - what KoolAid are they on at RNC?

I thought the exact same thing when I heard the story. At least the picture of the building was too big to be trodden on by a dwarf.
