John McCain's "house" gaffe—he couldn't give a straight answer to the seemingly direct question: How many houses do you own?—could get traction in terms of dispelling the myth that the multimillionaire son of admirals has more of the common touch than the Chicago community organizer.
But if you haven't seen it, check out the Obama campaign's new commercial capitalizing on McCain's comment. Is it just me, or are they also making an age dig against the senior senator from Arizona?
Here's the Obama ad:
If you can't play the video, here's the key line: "When asked how many houses he owns, McCain lost track—he couldn't remember."
Lost track...couldn't remember. Do you think they'd have chosen that phrasing if it was Obama versus, say, Mitt Romney? Neither do I.
