Pickens idea might quickly become passe if the development of solar film technology gets quickly on track. This new technology would create an acceptable aesthetic for roofing homes . It is expected to become very reasonably priced and backed with a 20 year warranty. With tax breaks and credits involved this could become part of a mandated building code much like the mound system. This is the best idea I have seen yet. Wind power is also available in a turbo style, roof mounted version, rather than having a wind mill stuck in your yard. Huge wind mills won't last forever, then what do you do with the tons of concrete that holds them up, the hole in the ground it leaves and the materials they are made of. Each home may soon be capable of having its own energy system and with minimum environmental harm.

Here's the simple question: would you bite your nose off to spite your face? In other words, why struggle in the pursuit of a nearly impossible task that would only hurt us and make us look bad in any case? Who cares if Pickens gets richer? Someone is going to! As long as they get rich by not polluting the world and pushing us all into catastrophe while still managing to meet the energy needs of the modern world, as far as I'm concerned let em roll around in big piles of hundies, without even undies! Still... GO OBAMA!

t. boone pickens is a liar about oil, he makes billion's of dollars from oil. he will make even more money off the wind mills. i have worked in the oil business over 30 years.
if you want the gas price to come down, drill for oil all over the united states. he and the democrats don't want this, the united states has four times the amount of oil then the middle east, T. boone Pickens will tell every one that american has very little oil above ground. mr. pickens the oil is under ground four times as the whole middle east. but stupid pickens. and stupid democrats don't want the american people to know this. mr. pickens and the stupid democrats say we can't drill our way out of this. wake up. the whole middle east drilled there way out of high gas prices. and so can the united states.
DRILL< DRILL< DRILL< DRILL.

Perhaps Pickens is simply trying to acquire an easement between Canada and Texas so that he can bring Texas a valuable source of water through a pipeline?
Acquire federal easement and build Pickens wind farm = money
Place additional demand on Pickens natural gas = money
Build pipline through easement and transfer Pickens water through it = money
Dude will be making bucu money while having been played out as the oil baron hero...... it's brillant.

If Boone's Plan didn't rely on massive and ongoing subsidies, I would say "Go for it, and I hope you make billions of dollars". When he wants me to subsidize his equity with my tax dollars for zero return other than some meaningless pie in the sky "energy security" mantra, it is entirely a different matter.

I would not listen to or trust one thing T. Boone Pickens had to say. He has forever stained himself for me by supporting the vicious attack on John Kerry. I think Pickens only wants more money for himself and I don't think he would be careful about how he got it.

The American Dream - Make your fortune with a good idea. Everyone works to provide for themselves and family. If a fella can do it more efficiently, then all the better. His money boost the economy and not pollute the air.

Mr Boone has developed a plan and has fully invested his fortune in it by developing two huge wind farms that produce perfeclty clean, cheap energy for all of us. When did putting your 'money where your mouth is' become something to criticize in this country. Boone's plan gets the most attention because it is a good plan that he is doing a great job marketing it. Successful entrepeneurs are good at those things. Don't be a hater, get on board.
PS Mr Carney is an idiot.
