John McCain: Georgia-Russia Is the First International Crisis Since the End of the Cold War

Does anyone else think of "Charlie Wilson's War" when we talk about the Georgia-Russia crisis? John McCain can be played by Tom Hanks and his wife Cindy by Julia Roberts. The timing of this was too coincidental. McCain is a friend of President Saakashvili and they are playing up Cindy's trip to Georgia. What is going on here? Is the US going to continue to pressure other countries to attack their neighbors because certain people in this country think it would be a good thing? The Republicans want to keep the fear going here at home so they can be the protectors, when in fact they may be initiating or supporting the incidents. What makes me fearful is that it is working, These are the same tactics that got Bush re-elected in 2004, fear. But to go up against Russia is just plain stupid.

I pray to God that Congress, President Bush and other government officials are aggressively re-assessing our military’s strength and working to build back our country’s strength. Yes indeed our county may want change, but remember bullies and the need for power never change! We must not take our freedom and the lives we live for granted. We are in serious turbulence times.

What about East Timor, Bosnia, Rwanda, the DRC and Darfur? Is genocide not an international crisis? How about the AIDS epidemic? The tsunami from a few years ago? The slaughter of Burmese monks from earlier in this year? Or does John McCain just not consider these to be serious?

Reading and understanding Schlesinger's writing is like trying to decipher the symbols that a mentally handicapped person would scribble on a chalkboard. It makes little sense, springs from a tiny/disabled mind blinded by his own "issues," and merely provokes laughter of actual writers.

Dear Robert,
What is the point of writing this sort of piece? John McCain is out there seeing the people and fielding any and all questions from American people, in an intimate and vulnerable setting. Why are you bashing him with this hit piece? It is clear John McCain is projecting courage and honor and a willingness to be forthright on the issues that matter to Americans. He is Mr. "Straight-Talk", and even if it doesn't have that "Champion Toastmaster" feel of an Obama speech, at least he is answering questions "direct" and sharing his ideas, not merely giving speeches, preaching and dodging or avoiding answering the tough questions like the other media darling candidate.
I'm sure you can pen a better and more productive piece than this, or at least give it a decent try.

John McCain is thoroughly given to over-reaction and over-dramatization. When he gets mad, it's cuss 'em out first and engage brain later. That's why he's called a "maverick", but none of that works in a modern world. "Maverick", the TV western, has been off the air more than 40 years now.
