Obamacare Birth Control Mandate Tramples Religious Liberty

It is not unreasonable to ask churches and religous groups to provide such things as birthcontrol. In all reality if they teach against it and their followers are as devote as they claim to be, then they won't use it. However, nothing involving healthcare should be denied to anybody. For any one person who doesn't want the birth control, there are two more who want to use it.

Although many will argue that most Catholics use birth control, this is something the Catholic Church teaches against. And this is completely unconstitutional (but, then so is the entire bill, but this may be the worst of it)and infringes on the first amendment right to practice your religion without the Government getting involved. You don't have to be a Conservative or a Catholic to disagree with this, you just have to agree with religious freedom. I don't see how anyone can justify this mandate.

Not all Catholics are like the Kennedys and Nancy Pelosi pushing abortions. Many may take birth control pills. Still, government pushing the Church around may not sit well...

With more than 68.5 million registered Catholics and 98 percent of them using birch control, I wouldn't make any assumptions about how they will vote in the fall

Right, because we all know all Americans descended from pilgrims, right? Even funnier since, the pilgrims weren't the only game in town at the time. Ever hear of Virginia?

IN 1968, POPE PAUL VI WARNED, IN HUMANAE VITAE, THAT BIRTH CONTROL PILLS WOULD LEAD TO MUCH INCREASED RATES OF INFIDELITY, PROMISCUITY, DISEASE, DIVORCE AND, ULTIMATELY, TO LEGALIZED ABORTION.

It appears he was quite a visionary. But I don't think he foresaw the Catholic Church being forced to pay for the moral debacle.

Randy Farmer of CO - Very, very strong point. Additionally, the Hispanic population are, by and large, Catholic!

With this and all of the other horses--t this Obama character has shoved down all of our throats, I'm now willing to take Vegas on...

With more than 68.5 registered million members, Cathology is the largest single religious denomination in the United States, comprising about 22 percent of the population. According to a new 2011 study by the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate at Georgetown University, "The US Catholic population is currently 77.7 million."

You can be sure that every single eligible Catholic voter will make an appearance at the 2012 presidential election polls, and guess who will not get re-elected POTUS!!!

...this idiot just dug his own election grave (What a 110% tool!)

So then logically, the Catholic church doesn't believe in separation of church and state. Such political hypocrisy. When did a hospital become a sacred place of worship? Your argument is flawed sir. Maybe we should revert back to the days of old world Europe when the Catholic church held dominion over state governments!!! What spin. Or wait. Maybe I should form a religion and then a charity and elect myself as CEO and then pay myself and expect not to pay income taxes on my salary! Ridiculous nonsense, eh? If that what the GOP plans on running on then God save them.

Presumably this author is christian. so he knows of course that god made man then let him do as he pleases. free choice. anybody ever hear the story about the apple and Eve and a snake. Yes, I thought so. Now we have churches saying that they can function as social organiztations and their employees should not have the same "free choice" that the god they profess to love, granted every man and woman. They are literally going against the will of their own god. Thoughtless.

Another point, this emphasis on contraception and birth control is a false issue to begin with. If these people felt human life was so sacred, they would not so gleefully support the party that starts wars over trumped up "evidence" of weapons of mass destruction. Spare me from these men of peace.

I could go on and elaborate further, but this is just venting.
