"This story from The Hill has a double dose of irony after a week in which the national media, which had been on New Civility watch since January, ignored the explosion of angry rhetoric from Democrats and their own ranks comparing Tea Party activists to terrorists . Harry Reid and other Democrats in the Senate now whine that the national media won’t report their spin on the impasse over FAA funding as fact":
"One reporter asked why Democrats didn’t swallow the cuts to small airports in their states to pass the short-term authorization and then return in September “to fight another day.”
"But Reid retorted that Republicans would find other “hostages” to force Democrats to back down on the labor issue."
"That’s why the FAA remains in partial shutdown. It’s not because Republicans took the FAA “hostage,” or some equally demagogic and paranoid fantasy in the febrile recesses of Harry Reid’s mind. It’s because the Senate didn’t do anything on the FAA extension until it was too late, thanks to Reid’s apparent fantasy of running a House of Lords rather than an American Senate."

hey mr. bill appreciate your comments.one thing for sure we,as a country, have more money going out than we have coming in.couple that with a loss of jobs,which leads to people having less money to spend on good and services. and we are where we are.
still donn;t agree with you on s/s .as.sen reid if we do nothing social is good for the next 20 years.so thats something that can be dealt with down the road.
as to the stock market,i have limited knowledge on the subject.
as to baseball cards,had some but never traded them.did you ever own an edsel?

To answer your "this policy has been in place for a number of years.look around,no job creation" look to my previous comment. Numbers 1,2,3, and 4. Bush did create iob and is CBO proven from actual IRS government revenue numbers.
You can act stupid and say "i repeat no jobs agenda from the g.o.p" all day long. Doesn't make you correct. I'll throw a John F. Kennedy quote in your face. What started our longest BULL MARKET IN HISTORY. That Bill Clinton's housing plan STOPPED. There has been many recessions, Bill, he knocked it down and beat it up. Try reading the link ONCE. as for lower tax rates,as we have now have,( the bush tax cut special ) this policy has been in place for a number of years.look around,no job creation, just the rich getting richer,and the lower and middle class falling farther behind.
i repeat no jobs agenda from the g.o.p.they talk a good game,but in the end it;s just more stale rhetroic.
till there,s a bold jobs plan that gets people working,and in turn pumps money into the economy,the situation is not likely to improve.
with the stock market going up and down like a yo-yo, sure makes the case that privatizing social security ( tied to the stock market ) is the worst idea since the edsel.

We killed "brinksmanship in washington" Nov. 2, 2010. Boy did Democrats fight amoung themselves. No single payer and many bills not passed. Pork necessary to pass obamacare and everything.
Since stimulus plan, there was big success, what has Democrats done ? Figuring what $250,000 + per job created !!!! Maybe we can save Uncle Sam some money and send unemployed on trip around the worlds.

for anyone waiting for the repubs to come up with a jobs plan, it,s a bit like waiting for dollar a gallon gas,it ain;t gonna happen.
the g.o.p. is too preoccupied,at this time,refighting old battles with regards to the healthcare law,and protecting tax breaks for those people and corperations that donn;t need them.

One of the _ little tricks _ to balance obamacare with CBO was place $$$ 16 trillion in cuts to hospital & doctors pay. This HAD TO BE ACCOUNTING FOLLY, extreme cut seems more like a PLOW TO BALANCE ONLY CBO's numbers. Already a few hospitals will not accept medicare. Doctors do not take such patients or limited numbers.
obamacare is a BUST. Why a 4 year wait for much of it. Liberals hardly batted a eye hearing this, like they knew all along. Why the big rush to pass? Why no campaign to rally support for? Turn BAD POLLS GOOD. TURN A FROWN UPSIDE DOWN. There is a old lady in Omaha still waiting for either` obama or Pelosi to explain obamacare as they promised....

think most people agree that obama needs to do more than talk in vague generalities about job creation.enough of this years away ,what might be stuff like wind and solar.there is much work that needs,and could be, done now,roads ,bridges,schools ect.
that being said,the republicans have been no better at this task.the house republicans, led by john"double bogey"boehner, thus far have been a total bust on doing anything on job creation.they have spent their time on such matters as taking away womens health rights,d.a.d.t.,gay marriage and passing paul ryan's clunker of a budget plan.which if it was to ever become law would only exacerbate our current problems.
the time has come to end the brinksmanship in washington.the time is now for job creation.

businesses don't serve the so called GOD of $$. They serve the business model of making profits. The serve the GOD of profitability. Profits is what pays the bills, expenses, labor costs, expansion, creation of new jobs, etc. Without profits business become insolvent and go OUT of business. The idea is to stay IN business through profit taking. Consequently, profits is what pays payroll.
Government indirectly controls "real" job creation (as opposed to phoney government jobs). They do it through government intervention visa vie regulation, government siphoning of profits in the form of taxation, and tariff/non tariff barriers to foreign competition.
Republicans, in the event you've forgotten, only control the house. Near impossible to eliminate job killing regulations and thus produce a business friendly environment when you have entrenched, radical idealogues who still continue to believe that government is the solution to everyone's problems.

Dow is down 500 points, job less claims climb, and POTUS is . . . on vacation! There are two responses to fear: fight or flight. Perception is reality. The perception that the president is unconcerned about current events is reinforced by the very fact that he's taking a leisure "vacation" while the nation suffers. Consequently, Americans feel this president shows a callouse disregard for the plight of millions.
And, regardless of what he says, actions speak louder than words.
