Bert and Ernie Getting Married Is a Dumb, Destructive Idea

This came as a shock to me because I always thought they were brothers. I thought that was why they fought so much and annoyed each other the way they do. huh.

I gotta disgree with y'all on this one. i don't know if Bert and Ernie should get married (and honestly I don't think it matters), but even if they did, that has absolutely nothing to do with sexual perversion, it has to do with love, which is a perfectly appropriate thing for children. Also, the bit about the boy refusing to drink water is completely irrelevant to this issue. I just had to point that out.

Sorry Peter but I don't get your point. Why would you think two people who love each other is a "dumb and destructive idea??" Why would it be wrong for children to see that two people love each other and want to spend the rest of their lives together and maybe even start a family? Do you really think children are not capable of understanding love, that it's "far too sophisticated for them to comprehend??" Agreed that children do not need to be taught sex at an early age but love should begin at day one and since Bert and Ernie have been living together and sleeping in the same room for over 40 years I think we can all safely say that they love each other very much.

I agree that puppets do not have sexual orientation, but Bert and Ernie are more than just puppets, they are characters, characters which would, in fact, have sexual orientation. And it's pretty obvious that they are gay and there is nothing wrong with that. And as for Bobbie Gross's comment, being gay is not behavior, it's part of a persons identity. Gay people do not choose their orientation any more than you choose to be straight. So it is right to teach children that we should accept people no matter who they are, black or white, gay or straight. Just like i tolerate you, even though you are a bigoted individual that finds an excuse to persecute people in a 2000 year old piece of mythology. That's assuming your Christian, which seems like a reasonable assumption, you're a prejudiced angry person on the internet, that throws god into your comments for seemingly no reason. Your religion is a choice, you choose to ignore science because a really really old book told you to. You ignore the fact that its either wrong or can't be proven any time it makes a point, because the book tells you to. You choose to suspend any sense of intelligent disbelief, but attraction to another human being is a natural biological impulse that one can't control.

I think this is a wonderful idea. We need to let the children of today know that being gay/bi/lesbian is a natural occurrence in today's world and it's not a bad thing. Most values that kids inherit come from TV shows like these. The purpose of these children shows are to teach children values without them knowing it. So who cares if Bert and Ernie get married? It's better than them being homophobic and teaching people wrong/immoral values. (Yes, I feel being homophobic is very immoral because you must be prejudice in order to feel this way. You predetermine that somebody is not a good person based off of one detail.)

Why would you destroy the founding thoughts and dreams of a small child to further some gender based fetish of wether they are gay. Who cares let the children have thier show as is. It is much to easy to attack an inanimate object such as a childrens show or its charecters than to deal with a real problem in this country like starving people, homless people, teen pregnancy, energy prices, high gas prices, illegal immigration or spending money on the rest of the world. It is the cowards way to attack a muppet but that is about all you can best in a battle of wits would be a muppet. I condem all of you as cowards and challenge all of the people of the "other lifestyle " to take on a real problem. Bugs bunny and elmer fudd wore a dress and they aint gay.

To th sick individual that think Bert and Ernie are friends with "benefits" , get your mind out of the gutter!!!!! My child doesn't need to be subject to that! He will find outabout that soon enough!

patty of MI 1:23PM August 12, 2011

It would take sick people to come up with this idea. It is like telling our children this kind of behavoir is ok. I do not agree and I think God is going to end this mess sooner than people think. They don't want us to push our religion on them but they can push homosexuality on us. Stand up people and lets fight against this.

Bobbie Gross of TN 1:15PM August 12, 2011

Bert & Ernie are clearly "Roomates w/Benefits", but we can't be against their union when no one blinked when Kermit & Miss Piggy's INTERSPECIES married. If they're just puppets and do not have sexual orientation, then why are Kermit & Miss Piggy married?... Plus, here's PROOF that they're gay: Check out their "kiss" at minute 1:12... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VFzIsk1pQM
