bill hedges of mo. rich continue to pay more I don't like makeing quotes from the book that i'm sure you love, to make a point, but since you invoked the god help us clause in one of your posts, here it is.. from everyone to whom much was given much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more. luke 12-48 as for the 40%-50% that pay no taxes, (assuming in fact that is a correct number) what is the top income earned in this bracet? hey bill! it's just over $25,000.in 2011 the poverty level in the us. was $22,350. for a family of four. OMG!!! can you imagine trying to raise a family of four on that, and you would expect them to pay taxes? in 2010 nearly 66% of wage earners made less than $39,000. 72 million americans earned less than $25,000. almost half of all wage earners. the top 1%, thats 1% bill, made nearly $790,000,000. thats $790 billion bill. the bottom 48% made less than $750,000,000. my figures are courtesy of soc. sec. and census data. I'll bet you still think the richest in this country, and you, are paying too much in taxes. pity the poor rich people, they need more to keep up their lavish lifestyle, while the rest of us get the ever dwindeling supply of crumbs of their trickle down economic disaster. its ain't funny folks. these people are dangerous. vote democrat!

No 2010 budget ?? 9.2% unemployment , housing in bad shape ,the list can go on and the DEMOCRATS in the White House and senate are working hard to solve the problems ? problem is the people voted into the House , republicans to get the job done .

I have been very disturbed by the inability of Congress to work out a solution to the debt ceiling issue. I am 52 years old and never remember the Senate or House holding the very future of our Country hostage for their own ideals. The time has come to takes us back from the brink and realize that if Republicans are going to move the Republican agenda forward you need to do it through true negotiation, not economic terrorism.

Negotiation involves give and take on both sides. All I have seen from House Republicans this entire year was rhetoric and the apparant belief that everyone has to agree with them or they will not budge.

Republicans agreed to 800 billion in "revenue increases" but only if they are balanced with broad tax cuts that will result in no net revenue increase. I believe the President was proper in asking that there be at least a 400 billion dollar net revenue increase.

I understand that Republicans believe tax increases would hurt the economy. For the last three years, after this whole crises started under President Bush, I have watched as tax cuts, bail outs, and money was infused into the economy. Most of this money was infused through big business and banks, both of which have taken the money and refused to spend it.

I believe Republicans will hurt the economy more by cutting Medicare and Social Security. Almost every dollar paid out in Social Security and Medicare is spent by the person(s) who receive it. This is not true of your tax cuts for big business.

Stop economic terrorism, pass the debt ceiling limit with sufficient monies to get us into 2013. Do not rob and rape the elderly and disadvantaged of this country for the sole purpose of attempting to gain another term in the House.

For 800 days Democrat controlled Senate has not passed a budget. 2011 budget was due Oct. 1, 2010. Democrats owned Congress and WH. They REFUSED to pass budget. We in House passed budget proposals. Senate has not changed then in hope of passage. Senate has not been prosposing their version. Neither has President. Is not us refusing brucetee. We had a deal until last moment obama changed it.

Nancy Pelosi and 81 Democrat voted with us not to pass a clear debt ceiling. Voter against raising debt ceiling:

to be objective about the debt ceiling situation,it;s the republicans that are being unreasonable and obstructing resolution of the matter.

down the road the voters will hold them accountable for their draconian actions if the country goes into default.

the wealthy are doing so badly in this economic down turn, why there going to special gold patina drums set up for them at the salvation army.this is in addition to their own personal food basket line.

“According to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO), the Bush tax cuts actually shifted the total tax burden farther toward the rich so that in 2000-2004, total income tax paid by the top 40% of income-earners grew by 4.6% to 99.1% of the total.”

40-50 % of Americans still pay NO federal income tax. That's low end tax payers...
