McConnell's Debt Ceiling Proposal Draws Fire From Conservatives

While I am no fan of Bush, it is interesting to note how people here forget Bush had the Tech crash in 2000, followed by 9/11 and the recessions that followed on each. Yet, his deficits from 2000 - 2006 are small when compared to Obama's 2009 - 2011. With unemployment in the 4% range, what would Obama give to have either Bush deficits or unemployment figures.

On the otherhand, Congress has proven over the decades they can not be trusted with the peoples money, we need a Constitutional Amendment to Balance the Budget, allowing Congress four years to accomplish this by reducing the annual deficit by 25% per year. A 5% national sales tax which can only be implemented when the budget is balanced and proceeds on applied to the accumulated deficit principle.

Federal financing of all Federal elections with no campaign contributions allowed, remove the tax deductibility of lobbyist expenses and contributions to PAC's!

You seem to forget that conservatives were indeed screaming loudly about the deficits that the Republicans in Congress kept voting for, and were part of the movement that voted out enough of them to put the Dems back in charge for a couple of years.

Unfortunately, those Dems carried on in the same way, finally forcing the conservatives to start their Tea Party movements.

Conservatives were pissed off 8 years ago and still are. That will not change until they get fiscally responsible representatives in Congress that actually do what they were voted in to do.

Can u imagine, had congress conceded its checks and balances power to GW? What would the liberal democrats have said then? Fast forward to 2012 or 2016 when a Republican is in office with this same power to circumvent congress. How will Dems feel then.

Senate Minority Leader (and I use that term lightly at this moment) McConnell is suggesting Congress acquiesce its power to determine our debt ceiling as laid out in the Constitution, Amendment 14 to be able to blame the fallout on a Democrat. To ensure his re-election and "innocence" in this whole entire debacle that has become our government.

This idea is the making of an oligarchy. It will make America worse than a Bananna Republic. If both sides can't see that, then we have no hope left.

If McConnell believes that most conservatives like this idea, then he has been drinking far too much Kool-Aid.

Gallup says 2 - 1 in America are against another blank check to government and do not want a debt ceiling increase (Obama's skewed phrasing of that question aside).

What doesn't this admin or this Senator or all of Washington understand about the word NO. We promise you, that is not a suggestion. That is our mandate to government.

Stop spending. Stop sending our taxdollars overseas. Stop making job killing regulations. Bring jobs back home. End NAFTA/CAFTA. No New Stimulus (Bernanke). Get out of our way and let us fix this economy. NO Big Government. End it now. End it here, or we the people will "reset" you all come 2012. The shellacking in 2010 will look like a ripple in the pond of politics. 2012 will be the real tidal wave.

Wake up.

NoMoreKoolAid of FL 11:58AM July 13, 2011

I'm a conservative Republican.

But let's be clear:

1. For six - 6 ! - of it's first 8 years in the White House, the last Republican administration, did not veto ONE spending bill !! Not ONE !! It started with a surplus and sniveled out the back door with the largest deficit in the country's history. Even Dick Cheney was defending it by saying "there's no real problem with deficit spending."

You are right about one thing. "Votes don't lie." Obama WON.

Go ahead and scream about Obama and deficits. But first answer: WHERE WERE YOU THEN?, and WHY DIDN'T YOU SCREAM AT CHENEY? WHY NO PROTESTS IN FRONT OF THAT WHITE HOUSE?

YOU are the one out of touch with reality, Sir.

Ethel of CA will be eating crap out of her own hat after Obama loses by a landslide. Liberal's view of what America wants or doesn't want is skewed through the prism of the biased extreme left-leaning media networks. ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, etc. - most of their reporting would have us believe that Obama is mostly loved by the American people and that the GOP is some evil, nazi, villainous force to be despised. The reality is far, far different. Votes don't lie.

Sen. McConnell needs to step up or step out, period. He needs to remember, or be reminded, that Congress is one of three equal parts of the US Federal Government and if he is willing to make Congress less significant than it already is then he needs to go.

Our government was founded on a series of checks and balances and if 1/3 of the equation is willing to give up those powers to another, then the system will “fundamentally transform” itself into something other than a representational republic.

The President is NOT a king or a dictator and never should be. Sen. McConnell needs to use the power vested in him by the people or remove himself from power for the future of this Republic. Remember long after obummer and Sen. McConnell are long gone there will still be a country to run and if the precedence is set that the power of one branch of our government can easily be transferred to another without an amendment to the US Constitution and the in turn the approval of the American people, then we will have truely seen the beginning of the end.

Lead, Follow, or Get the Hell out of the Way, we have a country to run Senator!

Larry of CA 10:32AM July 13, 2011

“Mitch McConnell blink” is W R O N G. Nov. 2, 2010 repeat a coming. As then, we need to get rid of Democrat & Republican faces. On a case to case basis. As Sarah said, she would support a Democrat. I would to. Depends on their record not their words.

Tea is not owned by Republican party. We freelance. Will take a election loss rather than pick wrong candidate for our beliefs. Is called integrity. Democrats will open their arms wide for all types of concepts...

Bill Hedges of MO 11:29PM July 12, 2011

Mitch McConnell is trying to shield his co-horts from "blame" in upcoming elections, this has NOTHING to do with what's best for America! Please re-read the intricate details of Mr. McConnell's plan, let's talk about the ridiculous maneuverings strategically designed as some sort of set up for the next election! I can hear it now...our President bypassed Congress to increase the debt limit...yada yada, vote for us! But wait - what exactly have the Republicans done for us? They've spent Obama's entire term attempting to make him, as Mr. McConnel put it "a one term President". They have done this by holding up legislation at every turn, how does that benefit us? For hell sakes, the Republican party can't even keep themselves together, how do they think they can make decisions for the rest of us? It seems to me that the Republicans have 2 basic agendas: 1) Ensure that America is a "Christians Only" club who can be scared into submission with threats of being branded a "Liberal" and 2) Anyone who disagrees with Agenda #1 is a worthless Liberal. How ironic that your Republicans voted for all the spending and now that its time to pay for it, they want to dump the responsibility on somebody else so they don't have to answer for it and instead try to blame Obama. So transparent even "We the People" are laughing at you now! Go ahead, put Palin up, that will be the icing on Obama's cake! Sarah Palin can't even do an interview without significant coaching, there isn't an intelligent thought in that woman's head and you think she can actually win? Me thinks the Republicans didn't learn their lesson and have a big letdown coming! They did NOTHING when given the chance. NEXT!!!

Ethel of CA 10:45PM July 12, 2011

Palin is NOT running for President! You are behaving like a tongue wagging idiot.

Does ANYONE EXPLOIT her fans more than Sarah Palin?

They are living pretend lives too - that is you Mr. Cabrera from IN. She is NOT running for President !!

She can't stand the media. But she's loves the media enough to be the cover of Newsweek. And you yahoos will still defend her.

Let's be CLEAR......It's coming. We all know it.

"After talking to my family, and in spite of the fact that I know I can win, I have decided not to run."

She is a CHIEF EXPLOITER. She is going after every last coin in her miserably dull-headed fan's pockets egging them on to buy her books, give her money, watch her shows, buy her merchandise. This is ALL pretend. Palin is ALL pretend.

SO.....can we please get on to the media start questioning her fans (starting with this Einstein from IN) about how much they believe "She would have won!! She was just treated so unfairly by the media."

Palin is dragging the Republican Party to defeat, and it is disgusting.

Zachary from Cincy of OH 10:36PM July 12, 2011

I don't pull punches.

BRIEF NOTE

What follows is sent all over the entire NET

By now , the american public is well aware about what is going on with the current admininstration, – their roots, they agenda, tendencies and purposes.

The 2010 vote did not serve the desired expectations, so on 2012 we have to vote in very fulminant manner otherwise we loose what is left of the country to the CORRUPTED AND FRUDULENT ORAGANIZATION NOW IN PLACE (THE CHICAGO MAFIA-STYLE CORRUPTED GROUP BETTER KNOWN AS THE OBAMA GANG)…and we can see once more the RINO-TYPE OLD SCHOOL RANCID PART OF THE REPUBLICANS ARE ONCE MORE CAVING AND HELPING TO PERPETUATE THE ONGOING SABOTAGE AGAINST OUR COUNTRY.

It is’ politics as always’, these individuals sold-out, and the american public is again cheated, victimized with MORE DECEPTION.

Our country definitelly needs better leaders.

WE THE PEOPLE MUST! elect individuals that reflect the greatness of the good people of this country.

Individuals that’…

1. FIGHT CORRUPTION

2. DO NOT COMPROMISE -IN ANY WAY, NOR AT ANY TIME – WITH NOBODY INSIDE THE CORRUPTED ATMOSPHERE.

3. REALLY LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE – KNOW THE ISSUES AND REAL CONCERNS FIRST HAND, FROM THE AMERICAN PUBLIC.

4. WHEN TALK TO THE OUTSIDE WORLD ,LET THEM KNOW THE VIRTUES AND GREATNESS OF OUR COUNTRY – HOW NOBLE , KIND AN HELPFUL AMERICANS ARE…AND HOW STRONG IS OUR SPIRIT ON THE DETERMINATION DO DEFEND AND PRESERVE THE FUNDAMENTAL VALUES AND PRINCIPLES THAT MAKES OUR COUNTRY GREAT.

5. UNDERSTAND VERY CLEAR THAT THE GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATION IS ONE FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PEOPLE AND IS THE PEOPLE THEMSELVES WHO HAS THE FINAL WORD ON EVERYTHING.

6. RESPECT AND PROTECT LIFE

Bottom line, since this is a clear battle to the end between patriots and traitiors,… benefit of the doubt nor truce should be given to liberals (nor to sold-out republicans) for they were – and still – ruthless doing and atempting to do even more damage in so many ways, to our great country.

So, next stop; SARAH PALIN PRESIDENTIAL OFFICE 2012

Story short, in view of the actual dilema, our great country is in need for real leadership,…a real true american president,.. an indidvidual proven to be of good character, integrity, knowledgable, with vision, experience, strong drive, and with real core sense of patriotism.

The ‘Washingtonians Corruptocrats’ are terrorized that, she should becomes president, their little world of corrupted practices will come to an end.

It is all a matter of special selfish interests by part of the current politicians that for a number of decades had been abusing the american public.

The good governor is a nightmare – actually, THE NIGHTMARE – for the ones in power with ‘politics as always’.

Sarah Palin is a real people’s advocate, …and of that, the main stream politicians, from all angles, are TERRORIZED!

I don’t think any of us needs a phD on molecular biology or quantum-physics to undertand this.

Opinions welcome
