Isreal may be very tiny and never taken, but is the BULLY for the US, Isreal knows all of the US secrets, Pearl Harbor, JFK, 9/11, hell isreal was behind most of them. Our congress and government are not what rule this contry people! stop watching tv all the time. The leaders of the US is Isreal. they say jump and america says how high. Obama has openly addmited that his Foriegn Policy is due to fact that he fears being Assasinated by Isreal.

Israel is the only sensible democratic country in the middle east and the spine-less US need Israel for their own good

USA will be brought to its knees if they go against Israel. I would suggest the US people return their land to the Indians and go back to England. They have no rights to talk about Israel until they return the Indian lands. That land was given to Israel by God Himself and no jokers have the right to speak about it.

As anyone who has studied history remembers that just before WWII, Nazi Germany demanded the return of the defensible Sudetenland autonomy, And the world forced Czechoslovakia to give it back for peace, the rest is history. What Obama is proposing is that Israel go back to the Pre 1967 boarder of which with today's military technology is pure national suicide. If the Palestinian population was in a good relations with Israel, the argument might be reasonable, but with a Hamas that vows for the destruction of Israel and a PLA government that is corrupt & unstable & both have called a truce the outlook for a peaceful Palestinian Israeli coexistence is the dream of Lord Chamberlain that had proclaimed just before WWII "I have brought peace for our time".

Please President Obama take out a history book of WWII & read so u can learn of what folly your proposing, Israel is not Luxembourg with peaceful neighbors but she has neighbors who have sworn for the destruction of Israel. Please do not become the Lord Chamberlain of our century. You claim to be a friend of Israel, so don't force Israel to live with boarders that leave Israel defenseless.

But if your intentions are pro Arab with out regards to Israels well being, be honest & tell the world of your position as Pro Arab with out regards to Israels safety.

Thank you

Thank you, Harold of NV!

I had the exact same information (primary documentation, just as you used). I was all set to type it out when I saw your comment. This is what puzzles me; why is it "a complete failure" for President Obama to say this to Israel, and completely acceptable for previous leaders to have said the same thing?

It is completely disconcerting to read so many misleading perspectives about the news and such a lack of knowledge of the history of the United States. As the old saying cautions: "Those who do not study history, are doomed to repeat history."

What worries me now is those who do not study history, doom ME to repeat history with them!

I wonder if history should be taught with civics classes as it used to be taught? At least students were educated in recognizing just what qualities a responsible American citizen should acquire. Hate-mongering and lobbing insults, is not one of them.

It would be great if we could actually give our perspective of how we see history unfolding before us, and where we get our information. Anyone in the U.S. is free to lie, so it is of paramount importance that we strive hard to research for primary information, just as you have done! After we have learned the actual truth, maybe we could then discuss how these truthful accounts of Obama's actions would affect us. Maybe we could actually find that all sides are seeking the same things: health, security in our home and in our jobs, respect for one another, and freedom granted by the Bill of Rights.

Nine of the ten costliest insurance events in U.S. history...Six of the seven costliest hurricanes in U.S. history...Three of the four largest tornado outbreaks in U.S. history... Nine of the top ten natural disasters in U.S. history ranked by FEMA relief costs...The two largest terrorism events in U.S. history... "All of these major catastrophes transpired on the very same day or within 24-hours of U.S. presidents Bush, Clinton and Bush applying pressure on Israel to trade her land for promises of "peace and security," sponsoring major "land for peace" meetings, making major public statements pertaining to Israel’s covenant land and /or calling for a Palestinian state . . ..Now its Obama's turn.

Previous administrations did not endorse the 1948 boundaries as evidenced by these quotes:

“It is clear, however, that a return to the situation of 4 June 1967 will not bring peace. There must be secure and there must be recognized borders.”

— President Lyndon Johnson, September 1968

“In the pre-1967 borders, Israel was barely ten miles wide at its narrowest point. The bulk of Israel’s population lived within artillery range of hostile armies. I am not about to ask Israel to live that way again.”

— President Ronald Reagan, September 1, 1982

“Israel will never negotiate from or return to the 1967 borders.”

— Secretary of State George Shultz, September 1988

“I think there can be no genuine resolution to the conflict without a sovereign, viable, Palestinian state that accommodates Israeli's security requirements and the demographic realities. That suggests Palestinian sovereignty over Gaza, the vast majority of the West Bank, the incorporation into Israel of settlement blocks … To make the agreement durable, I think there will have to be some territorial swaps and other arrangements.”

— President Bill Clinton, January 7, 2001

“Ultimately, Israelis and Palestinians must address the core issues that divide them if there is to be a real peace, resolving all claims and ending the conflict between them. This means that the Israeli occupation that began in 1967 will be ended through a settlement negotiated between the parties, based on UN resolutions 242 and 338, with Israeli withdrawal to secure and recognize borders.”

— President George W. Bush, June 24, 2002

“In light of new realities on the ground, including already existing major Israeli population centers, it is unrealistic to expect that the outcome of final status negotiations will be a full and complete return to the armistice lines of 1949, and all previous efforts to negotiate a two-state solution have reached the same conclusion. It is realistic to expect that any final status agreement will only be achieved on the basis of mutually agreed changes that reflect these realities.”

— Bush, letter to Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, April 14, 2004

it's all there and a direct quote from Bush whom called for a return to 1947 borders....

the attack on Obama is just more right wing LIES

How is it a "stunning about face" on US policy towards Israel when what Obama said about pre-1967 lines was merely a public iteration of long-standing US policy, one subscribed to by both Bush and Clinton for starters. In Israel, both Kadima and Labour backed Obama and, according to opinion polls in Maariv today, a majority of Israelis believe that Netanyahu should have given at least qualified support to Obama's call.

Comparisons are always odious, but these pathetic examples are more odious than most. The simple fact is that the West Bank and Gaza are occupied territories, something recognised by all the world, that the Palestinian Arabs there constitute the vast majority and that the settlers there are illegal interlopers under international law (even though the vast majority will still be able to live under Israel rule under a land swap deal). It is time to recognise that the Palestinian people are not just deserving of rights like the rest of us but that they are, just as much as any American or Israeli, human beings not so much dirt under our feet.
