Obamacare Ruling Is a Game Change for GOP Repeal Efforts

I have been thinking that a good way to handle seniors insurance instead of medicare would be, as a start, to allow people to put their parents on their group insurance. This would spread the expenditures widely over all companies instead of a medicare approach. I don't understand why we can have children up to the age of 26 on insurance, when, my daughter, 33, is a full time student, and we can't be covered. I say allow these children on the plan, too. Next, make my group insurance portable. When I change jobs, my insurance company can stay the same, and the new employer pay the premium to that company, no monopolies of insurance companies to one employer. Perhaps between the insurance companies this would average out the cost of the premiums. Next, allow a tax exemption, just like you have for your kids, for parents who live with you. This would be incentive for grown children to have their parents live with them.

I support my 33 year old "rebound" daughter while she attends college. I get no deductions, either for supporting her, or paying for her education. Her medical is paid for by ACCESS in AZ, this could be covered on my insurance, if laws were changed. THINK about the savings for the government, if these suggestions were implemented.

A gas tax is no more "forceful" than any other positive or negative incentive created by a marketplace run by oil cartels. And how would you suggest these "incentives" to promote research would work? Government grants? Isn't that inconsistent with generally accepted conservative/libertarian views?

And before anyone suggests tax credits to those that consume less gas, what is the practical difference between a tax refund to create an incentive vs a tax hike (other than making people happier in the short run and increasing the deficit)

"Once the slate is clean, they can develop an agenda that makes purchasing health insurance an appealing choice rather than a federal mandate"

This will fall on deaf ears with liberals as they simply cannot understand the concept that if you want people to do something you will be most successful by offering them an incentive to do so instead of forcing them. Just as an example, if you want to focus on solar power and phase out fossil fuels the worst thing to do is to tax the hell out of oil and coal. Better is to promote research and development that makes solar power cheaper to use and as such people will naturally gravitate toward it and fossil fuel use will die out by itself.

All democrats see as an option however is force and force rarely accomplishes one's intended goals without devastating side effects.
