Prominent Economists Urge Obamacare Repeal

Kaiser Permanente is a non profit health care system that cheats the American Public. It abuses its clients but has a stronghold in some states as it is less costly than most other insurance. Most employers offer it as it provides lower costs. As long as you are well, it if fine. But for the elderly and chronically ill, you will die with Kaiser. In Califormia much of their cardiac care has been taken away from them and is contracted out due to high death rates. Doctors do not speak English and refuse to refer patients to speicalists. They are the gatekeepers and get paid huge bonus checks for not providing service. If you think Obama care is great.....read Kaiser papers on line......Look at videos and audio of Nixon considering Kaiser managed care back in 70's. Don't be a sucker. Obama care should be repealed.

Two hundred econmoists, including a number of them on Obama's Council of economic advisors support H.R. 5424. I challenge you to name some of those economists. I still say that some form of the public option would have saved the government money. If being able to buy insurance across state lines means being able to purchase Kaiser Permanente Insuitrance in Kansas, then I'm all for it. If eliminatng frivolous lawsuits, then I'm all for it. We should keep the best ideas in so-called Obamacare sucn a eliminating preexisting conditions, lifetime and annual limits and putting kids up to age 26 on parents' insurance.

The best thing to do is trash the current monstrosity that was passed despite the protests of the American people, and start fresh. Tort reform must be part of the next bill, as well as the ability to purchase insurance across state lines. Anything that introduces competition into the equation will serve to keep costs down.

Summary:

• "Lowering health care premiums. H.R. 5424 will lower health care premiums by up to 20% compared to the Democrats’ health law for families and small businesses, addressing Americans’ number-one priority for health care reform.

• Establishing Universal Access Programs to guarantee access to affordable health care for those with pre-existing conditions. H.R. 5424 creates Universal Access Programs that fully fund and reform high-risk pools and reinsurance programs to guarantee that all Americans, regardless of pre-existing conditions or past illnesses, have access to affordable care – while lowering costs for all Americans.

• Ending junk lawsuits. H.R. 5424 would help end costly junk lawsuits and curb defensive medicine by enacting medical liability reforms modeled after successful state laws that reduce unnecessary spending and lower health insurance premiums.

• Preventing insurers from unjustly cancelling a policy. H.R. 5424 prohibits an insurer from cancelling a policy because an enrollee made simple errors on an insurance application forms

• Allowing dependents to remain on their parents’ policies. H.R. 5424 encourages coverage of young adults on their parents’ insurance through age 25.

• Encouraging Small Business Health Plans. H.R. 5424 gives small businesses the power to pool together and offer health insurance at lower prices, just as corporations and labor unions do.

• Encouraging innovative state programs. H.R. 5424 rewards innovation by providing incentive payments to states that reduce premiums and the number those who are of uninsured, without expanding government entitlement programs or creating new ones.

• Allowing Americans to buy insurance across state lines. H.R. 5424 increases insurance competition and lowers premiums by allowing Americans to shop for coverage from coast to coast regardless of the state they live in.

• Promoting healthier lifestyles. H.R. 5424 promotes prevention and wellness by giving employers greater flexibility to financially reward employees who adopt and maintain healthier lifestyles.

• Enhancing Health Savings Accounts (HSAs). H.R. 5424 creates new incentives to save for future health needs and allows qualified participants to use HSAs to pay health insurance premiums"

in favor of repeal:

CNN - 50%

Quinnipiac - 48%

Gallup - 46%

Rasmussen - 55%

To get a decent bill, you have NO CHOICE but to repeal the whole thing and start from scratch, otherwise you will end up with a very bad compromise.

Junior of DC 6:22PM January 19, 2011

The latest NBC/WSJ poll shows 45% in favor of repealing.

That's just slightly more than the 18% you quote.

Junior of DC 5:55PM January 19, 2011

A whopping 18% want to repeal the healthcare reforms. The rest of the country want to keep it or build on the already hard-fought-for reforms. No legislation is perfect and the GOP would be better advised to offer some constructive changes to improve what we have. Of course the whole deal with the repeal is that the GOP is not offering anything to replace it with, and we all know the GOP is famous as DO-Nothings, not the mention Know Nothings.

The GOP is confused thinking they have to constantly pander to special interest hawkers and loud teabuggers (that same wacko 18%), and threw the rest of the country under the bus with all their lies.

Have you noticed that the republicans have become just a big dog-and-pony show ?
