Where to start?
You try to draw a moral equivalence between the Left blaming the attack on Right-wing rhetoric, and the Right defending itself by pointing out that the Left has also used such rhetoric? The missing part, of course, is that the Right NEVER blamed the shootings on Leftist rhetoric.
So no, IT IS NOT TRUE that both sides have equal claim to the moral high ground. The Right has consistently claimed that political rhetoric HAD NOTHING TO DO with the shootings, and as it turns out, they were right. I notice you left out that little detail.
BOTH sides claiming this is a nadir for political speech? Again, you are completely wrong. I don't know if the Left has claimed such a thing (it sounds like a claim they might make) but the Right certainly has NEVER claimed that. We on the Right already know that such rhetoric was routine in our nation's history.
Face it Peter: the Left jumped the gun (literally) blaming the Right for the shooting when they had absolutely ZERO evidence of a connection. All the Right did was defend itself. The crazed actions of this nut were not connected to any rhetoric by the Right. The Left was wrong and you darn well know it.
Trying to make both sides equally wrong in this sordid affair is just another example of media bias, not wanting to admit the truth.
