The UIGEA that outlaws financial transactions to online gaming institutions became law the same way, attached to the Safe Ports act. Unfortunately that's the way our government works. While I usually enjoy reading Peter Roff's blog I can say I would expect better work here. How can you look over the taxes our sluggish economy would gain as well as the jobs the US would gain from this bill?

Add jobs... add tax dollars... "Why now?" you say Peter... I would draw you a picture if I had the time

... in Internet Gambling stocks when he took the holier than thou stance and made it illegal for credit card companies to make payments to gaming sites. And now that his Vegas campaign contributors have "caught up", the hypocrite wants to legalize it? I am selling my house to put my son through college because of that hypocritical phucker. He cost me six figures when he bought those Vegas votes. I hope he burns in Hell, he deserves no less.

Online poker is legal and always has been as far as I know. And the websites make a fortune taking a rake from every pot. Online poker is one thing most people probably wouldn't mind having a moderate tax on.

Reid's bill would regulate online poker within the U.S. and bring billions of tax dollars over the next decade (while creating tens of thousands of new jobs) into the country that are currently going overseas. Given the economic times we're in, this is EXACTLY something he (and we as a country) should be actively and aggressively pursuing.

Are there some elements of political payback with the Reid bill? Of course there is.

Newsflash: that's the case with almost any piece of new legislation, Republican or Democrat.

Would expect a more educated and thoughtful opinion from a US News writer.

Staying in Afghanistan unto 2015, Gitmo still open and plan to pay Countries to take terrorist spoiled, Democrats lose bad Nov. 2, and barry is hearing the words N O. barry should have consulted more his own party about resent deal.

After two years a smart President should know to do some talking about agreement to his side.. Insult Republicans in the dealt is really smart Presidential sense. Old adage if you can’t do then teach sure applies to professor barry.

If a major problem occurs, (more than now ? May have been a American boy that beheaded many ?), on our Mexican/American side of the boarder especially, Democrat leaders will be boiled in oil, tarred and feathered, run out of our boarders. There already is American land we dare not enter. illegals given way to become citizens is not fair to good citizens like Marie of NV who plays by the rules.

Why not purpose online gambling ? Another favor to honor for dirty little man Reid to the casinos. For getting their employees to vote for Reid. He owes a lot of favors to pay after Nov. 2. He beat the polls and that’s plenty of debts owed.

Howard Stern makes $$$ 500,000,000 ? There is something for liberals to whine about.

No on the Dream Act. I became a citizen and I did it the right way........Everyone that has done it the right way, is being threatened by this Dream Act. No No No No No No

Do you get my message and many of us do not want this to pass. You have got to be kidding on this one. I did not vote for you, but you are suppose to work for us, you are not doing a great job at all. You make this state look ridiculous.

Online Poker generates 2 billion dollars are year for foriegn interest with american dollars which are not being taxed. They need to pass this bill so the US can start collecting taxes on this multi-billion dollar industry.

Joe Schmoe of FL 9:36AM December 09, 2010
