New Census Data Hurts Obama in 2012
Tweet Share on Facebook December 21, 2010 Comment (6)Things aren’t looking so good for President Barack Obama.
The tax deal he cut with congressional Republicans has created chaos on his left. His other victories--the stimulus package, the new healthcare law and the repeal of the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell" policies--are discordant rather than inclusive, meaning that just as many Americans if not more oppose them than embrace them. And, as pollster Scott Rasmussen reported Friday, “For the first time since he became president, only 35 percent of voters say Barack Obama thinks society is fair and decent.” Obama is a divisive political figure--not at all the post-partisan unifier he promised he would be when running for president in 2008. All of which spells trouble with a capital “T” as far as his re-election hopes are concerned. [See a roundup of editorial cartoons about 'don't ask, don't tell.]

Tweet Share on Facebook December 3, 2010 Comment (8)The Obama administration appears a little bit confused about what its policy towards government regulation of the Internet should be.
On the one hand, as The Hill reported just a few weeks ago, a senior U.S. government official “warned the increasing number of foreign government policies aimed at restricting the flow of information on the Internet could serve as an informal trade barrier and hamper economic growth.”

Game of Chicken on Bush Tax Cuts Holds Economy Hostage
Tweet Share on Facebook December 3, 2010 Comment (34)Just hours after the still Nancy Pelosi-run U.S. House of Representatives voted to extend the current tax rates for middle- and lower-income Americans--rather than keeping all the tax rates where they are on everyone as the Republicans want--negotiations to bring up similar measures in the U.S. Senate collapsed.
