American Flag Shirt Fight Illustrates New American Intolerance

Amercia has lost it's way and is spiraling downward out of control.Obama is placing people in high places in his administration that appears to have a problem with America's constitution. It appears as if they are trying to do everything within their power while in office to do away with American principles and what she stands for in general (not speaking of those who actually hate people due to race, gender etc.)

The Obama Administration appears to approve of illegal activity such as illegal aliens, which is illegal according to the law, but lately the law is not the law anymore, it is what ever they make it. Now we have the burning of the flag is ok, but don't wear clothing with the American flag on it.

America is not America it appears to belong to Muslims (obama seems to cater to them and what they want), Mexicans (he allows the Mexican President come into our whitehouse and tell us how to run our country when their country is mostly over here and what's left in Mexico is drug ridden and operating out of fear of being killed or beaten severely.

It appears as if we are in a foreign country. Americans are being forced to learn spanish when the fluent language use to be English last I checked. Jobs for Americans are hard to come by due to illegal Mexicans are occupying them.

Radical Muslims serving in our armed forces in our work places.

This all is a receipe for disater, it is like sleeping with the enemy. I love our country and do not like nor did I fall for the slogan offered "CHANGE" (there is a good change or change could be devistating. I believed the latter and saw the foolishness in those who voted for him was voting for the wrong reason. Open your eyes America this is heading towards socialism, new world order. If people would listen to their statements they make they admit it.

I never thought in a million years I would be writing something such as this. THIS IS AMERCICA!!!!

The constitution still matters!!!!

If Mexico attacked America would you defend this country or support Mexico

were they possessed of any professional ability they would have put the word out that any misbehavior by students would be dealt with immediately and severely.

But why do that when they can trample on the free speech rights of children without having to appear harsh?

The lesson for the students to learn is that the administrators are cowards who know nothing about the Constitution and obtained their positions through attrition, toadying, or worse. They certainly don't want this to be [here comes the cliche] a "learning moment."

Just like members of Congress.

I've heard many of the "Mexican-Americans"...which, unless they were born in Mexico and then naturalized in the U.S., they are NOT.....talk about national pride and the only holiday they can celebrate.

Excuse me?! First, May 5 is NOT a Mexican Holiday....It is NOT Mexican Independence Day. Mexico achieved Independence from Spain on September 16, 1810. Least these students can do is learn their own damn history if they want to claim national pride.

May 5, 1862 is the day that just over 4000 Mexicans defeated more than 6000 French soldiers that were invading their city of Puebla...approximately 100 miles east of Mexico City.

Nepolean III, in this defeat....was kept from supplying the American Confederacy with supplies, which may or may not been key in the Confederate Army's inability to keep up with the Union Army, as the Union Army expanded far more rapidly and won a decisive victory at Gettysburg just over a year later. a thought to ponder?

Both Americans and Puebla-Mexicans have a reason to celebrate May 5....Americans have a right to fly the American flag on any day of the year in this country....and perhaps those Americans with Mexican Heritage....and those Americans who appreciate the victory at Puebla so long ago, regardless of heritage...can fly BOTH flags on May 5....to honor all freedom fighters...whatever country their ancestors called home.

Second, anyone born in this country...or naturalized in this country....should have American pride....regardless of their heritage.

My heritage is black Irish (Irish and Spaniard mix). I am not Irish-American. I am simply American. I was born here. This is my country. I do enjoy St. Patrick's Day and celebrate each year as I know where my roots are.

However, I am American first and foremost and do not care if someone flies the American flag or Irish flag on March 17...just don't tell me which one to fly...only I decide and let others as they may.

What an absolute outrage. The quote "they can be patriotic some other day" from the knucklehead student speaks volumes. Sure thing! How about we have our fighting forces all be patriotic on another day as well, instead of fighting overseas for your right to even live in this country, go to school, celebrate anything you believe in, much less shoot off your mouth to the media. The Mexican students walked out because THEY were disrespected? Tha's laughable and stupid. If the parents of the kids who wore the American flag shirts and the general public don't descend on that place in droves, they are wrong. That is exactly why this sort of thing goes on. People sit back and let it happen. If they want to wear an American flag shirt every damn day of the week (and they should now) it should not be a problem. THIS IS AMERICA!!!! If you don't like it, pack your things and go to the country you're so concerned with celebrating! That's the beauty of freedom. You're free to leave whenever you want. You are not free to come here, leech off of our system, deform our culture and trample our beliefs as you see fit.

Since when is it Un-American to wear our American flag on our clothing. It is on

all our military uniforms, pilot's uniforms, law enforcement uniforms, etc. We wear

these patches on jackets, and anywhere we else we want to proclaim ourselves as

Americans !!! This code refers to making a shirt from the flag. How dareothers come here and tell us their country is better than ours..Then why don't they go home.I saw pictures on the internet where Mexican high school kids took down our flag and put theirs up with our flag hanging upside down below it. I don't know how our gov't can allow this to go on.

They sure wouldn't get away with it anywhere else.

I'm amazed that anyone would have to ever apologize for wearing a symbol of our country. I don't care what day of the week it was. That's the problem with this particular group. When people come to this country and go through the legal process already in place for becoming a citizen, most do that with a sense that they are joining a great country, becoming part of it, becoming an American first. This group is Mexican first and foremost. They come, but unlike early immigrants to this country, they expect to wave their flag in our streets, demand benefits to which they are not entitled, speak a language other than English and expect the rest of us to shut up or be called racists. Who are the racists here? Mr. Rodriguez, at the very least, should be reprimanded, and probably fired for his total lack of good judgment in this instance. Instead of using this as a teachable moment, he chose to frankly be a racist himself and deny those students wearing the flag of this country their civil rights. Maybe he should also teach the history of Cinco de Mayo because apparently his Mexican students don't know that it is not the day of Mexican independence but rather just commemorates the winning of a battle between Mexico and France and is barely recognized in Mexico except in Puebla where the battle was fought. In any event, this is still America first. I celebrate St. Patrick's Day because I'm Irish, but I would never, ever, in a million years place any flag above the Red, White and Blue. That's Red, White and Blue, not Red, White and Green. Americans are tired of this politically correct BS. Candidates who attempt in any way to force amnesty of these individuals upon us will find that we will be voting them out of office. America first. Stand up for it, or lose it.

Deb of GA 11:57AM May 11, 2010

I guess it will be soon Un-American to display the Stars and Strips on "our" Independance Day!!!!

Roadrunner of NJ of NJ 11:17AM May 11, 2010

There is a good argument to be made for school uniforms. There is an absolute necessity to be American first, then whatever your ethnicity might be. Political correctness is way out of hand. Making exceptions for these groups seems to do them more harm than good.

Jeannie in FL of FL 2:52AM May 11, 2010

All these shills who want to defend symbols of this country but not the government processes themselves are hypocrites. Waving the bloody flag while spewing hate against our government and the president, Again?

Conservatives were happy that Vietnam War protester Abbie Hoffman was jailed for desecrating the flag by wearing an American Flag shirt in 1968. He won his appeal on his conviction and since the Supreme Court has ruled flag-desecration laws unconstitutional. It was inflammatory to wear a American flag shirt then and is still in certain circumstances.

Now they want to defend racial instigation in public schools, like starting fighting in class is some right the Founding Founders created for us. Is there some real stupid logic going on here? or it this just more dumbing down hatemongering.
