Newt Gingrich: Obama's Fantasy Foreign Policy is Dangerous

Like a bat coming out at night...

Mankind will never stop fighting each other. Sad but true. But getting nuclear materials out of the hands of those who cannot secure it is a great idea - one that will reduce the risk of loose materials being used by terrorists or rogue states.

The some of the first nuclear arms treaties were signed by Nixon, and Reagan was a big fan of this too. So why is the Right - supposedly Republicans, suddenly so anti? Because it is Obama doing it. If Reagan were president now and did this, Gingrich would be "waxing lyrical".

This is just more of Gingrich's efforts to try to take down a Democratic president. Cynical, hypocritical, duplicit, and another attempt to raise the politics of fear once again.

The American President must keep his eyes on domestic and foreign policy issues. He must be able to multi-task, and engage other leaders on a level other than troops. He must see beyond the partisan rhetoric that boils domestically, and find a way to lead the world in the future while reducing the risk of nuclear attack.

Bobby - if your rule held, Obama would still be president, and McCain would have to leave. You wouldn't want that, right?

Bshea - Gingrich specializes in tearing the nation apart. That's all he knows how to do. Bush gave his "Axis of Evil" speech, the swore Iraq would save us all. War never does. But what we can do is better control nulcear materials, thus making wars less lethal....

David - The Iran/N. Korea exception is to allow us room to do what we must when other nations do not play by the rules, and will not even sign onto the rules. Your view is paranoid, and and takes the neo-con premise that we somehow have the right to tell everyone else what to do, invade their countries at will, and "discipline" as we like. The world does not operate that way any more - sorry. Too many references to the pre-cold war world. Controlling nuclear materials has nothing to do with American Exceptionalism. You define that like a manifesto that is somehow watered down if we work with other nations? Bush/Cheney must be "gods" to you - neo cons.

The reason for Iran/North Korea is to take away US hegemony and influence thus creating a stalemate of world power.

Hegemonic Stability Theory is the believe that the international system is more likely to remain stable when a single-nation state is the dominant world power or hegemon.

America is that single-nation state and the dominant world power. American exceptionalism created that niche. It's a fact of life and our world dominance. We own the position and we are the leaders. We don't apologize for being leaders that only serves to de-edify and undermines our influence.

As leaders we can empathize and have sympathy toward other nation states, but we should never, ever apologize when we are not at fault.

"The stern hand of fate has scourged us to an elevation where we can see the great everlasting things that matter for nation[s]; the great peaks of honour we had forgotten - duty and patriotism, clad in glittering white; the great pinnacle of sacrifice pointing like a rugged finger to heaven." ~David Lloyd George

Why does George believe this? Because "America is much more than a geographical fact. It is a political and moral fact - the first community in which men set out in principle to institutionalize freedom, responsible government, and human equality." Adlai Stevenson

It is our hope and belief as the leader of the free world that the common man desires that same freedom. That they want responsible government. And that they yearn for human equality. We should not have to apologize to those governments and their leaders that stand in our way.

I see that two of the geniuses who must be the "real Americans" have already weighed in on this.

The areas of concern, Iran, Korea, Terrorists and the like are real threats. What happened between the Bush and Obama administrations that all of a sudden made these entities so dangerous. Could it be politics? We had heard that the misguided actions in Iraq had made the world a safer place. Really? And yet these same threats existed, and in fact became more dangerous during the Bush years as the enlightened policy of "dis-engagement" was carried out.

It is time to get serious. We will not have to worry about the Bogey-Man outside of our borders if we continue to tear us selves apart from within.

I have a good idea for Obama. This would be a good policy. Starting ASAP anybody who wasn't born in this country has to get out. This is America we should only allow americans. Its not fair to born blood americans. Thats my idea of a foreign policy anybody agree. And Rodney King isn't our president moron. This country has been slacking we need to not focus on other peoples problems and focus on our own.

Bobby of AL 12:30PM April 15, 2010

Rodney King is now president.
