Obama Offshore Oil Drilling Plan Nothing New

America's oil from shale is "five times the stated reserves of Saudi Arabia."

That's more than a "stopgap", we can export to THE WORLD... That is just shale mind you !

Just 2 places for oil with new technology.

"In other words, the future of oil shale may have finally arrived. Extracting oil from shale is no simple task, which is why the reserves remain almost completely undeveloped. But an emerging new technology promises to unlock the awesome potential of the oil shale."

"Estimated U.S. oil shale reserves total an astonishing 1.5 trillion barrels of oil – or more than five times the stated reserves of Saudi Arabia."

"The current hot play is the New Albany Shale gas play which is utilizing state of the art completion technologies to access and produce natural gas from this unconventional reservoir. Renewed interest in the New Albany began in the mid-1990s and related drilling has accounted for near 500 wells since that time."

Out here in Utah, we are not fooled by this kind of double-shuffle. We have plenty of energy resources here that could be tapped immediately, and Obama knows it. Expediting oil and gas developing here would be cheaper and quicker than this chimerical proposal on off-shore sources. As usual with Obama, we get pretty talk, but no real action.

Hence, it is time to replace our insider/incumbent Sen. Bob Bennett who has turned his back on these issues. Many Utahns are supporting a new generation of leadership. We choose Tim Bridgewater who has experience in geothermal and other renewable natural resources.

Obama is just looking for political coin to exchange for concessions on Cap and Trade, and other items on a very long green agenda. He is only allowing "exploration" - not leases. The usual smoke and mirrors.

Obama is the master of political half truths and double speak.

R.L. Schaefer of CA 2:19PM April 01, 2010

All the easy oil reserves have been extracted. Oil prices will go up whether or not we drill as long as our demand stays where it is. This drilling plan isn't bold because the future is alternative fuels and increased drilling can be no more than a stopgap measure at best.

You are so right. Many other areas to. Don't forget gas and the dirty word coal. Technology will learn how to take the dirt out and satisfy the left if that is possible.

I need proof to believe obama.

This is a well timed political maneuver. Nothing more, nothing less.

Ob has read the tea leaves and wants to cool the center-right even though it will bring wrath from a segment of the left. Just a matter of applying political leverage at the right time. Before the election it was all about clean energy. That message resonated with the entire left. Now, it’s about robbing power from the energy debate before the coming election. Timing is everything. Ask Ob’s squeak toy Gibbs. He’ll tell you so with a straight face as long as the cameras are rolling.

We could have been accessing huge reserves of oil & NG long ago without the offshore debate. Don’t believe me? Google “USGS Bakken”

R.L. Schaefer of CA has made comment that says it BEST. John Aloysius Farrell should be shaking in disbelief from RL's comment under his desk.

What brave ecologically minded individual wishes to cite evidence to counter R.L.’s case.

Republicans in Congress are on record for developing all price effective energy sources. To find ways to make sources not now economical through innovation is right thing to do.

The bull to raise oil prices to make alternative energy in line with oil is not American. You think America is angry now, pull this stunt.

We need jobs and our oil. We need to develop the next innovation as Henry Ford created the assembly line. Revolutionizing America and the World.
