Judging from your reply, it is apparent that either A) You are just funnin' with me or B) You belong to an extreme survivalist cult that does not believe in any medication or outside influence to treat illness. Either of these possibilities should exclude you from this discussion. Like most other radicals, you make inaccurate assumptions based on little information. Your statement that "every single problem that most people have is the result of choices they've made" is so ludicrous that it is not worth commenting on. Your position implies that the system we have now is just fine and dandy, and in that regard, maybe 1% of the population agrees with you. Again, this obviously comes from someone whose needs are taken care of, and I understand that. However, to assume that the only reason that 100% of the population is not as fortunate as you because they made bad choices is ignorant, naive, egotistical and just plain mean.

HP was a dying company before Carly Fiorina became its CEO, Fiorina knows how to fix enormous problems, and California and Washington DC need her - desperately.

Carly 2010! A progressive Republican!

Its almost comic that folks take Fiornia seriously, after her brilliant performance for the McCain campaign and her high profile firing from HP.

California is broke and can't afford this high maintenance diva.

Hank of TN 7:23PM November 25, 2009

Comrade Grundy!! Cold hearted?!. I'm sure my daughter says the same thing when I won't buy her a new toy after she destroyed the one I got her.

Then, using your reasoning, God is cold hearted because he let's good people die?!

What is cold hearted about people having to suffer the consequences of their choices? It's called reality. Government used to be the safety net for people, leaving them free and unfettered to pursue life. Now, you want government to provide cradle to grave benefits for everyone. We want government to do for us what we should, but are unwilling to do for ourselves.

Yes, I'm immune. Why? Because I made good choices. I don't have to suffer the consequences for the poor choices that others made/make.

Understand that almost everything anyone has is a direct consequence of the CHOICES they made/make/will make.

I forgive your villifying comments, because you don't know me or know my experience/background. But, understand that I've paid more of a price and service to this great nation than most Americans. And also understand, that I work with the disabled every single day. I know that of which I speak. I'm far more familiar with the plight, situation, and circumstances of people than most. It's what I do every, single day. I know firsthand the people that Obama'scare plan is supposed to help. And no, I'm not jaded. I'm very conscientious and compassionate.

But I will tell you that an ounce of prevention yesterday would be worth a pound of cure for most people.

Every single problem most people have is the result of choices they've made. But when you want to force me and other hardworking people to pay the consequences of the choices other make. Well, that's simply immoral and patently wrong. There's another word for it, try communism. You don't solve injustice with injustice.

I understand people suffer and sometimes those people are good people. My mother-in-law was the salt of the earth type. I watched her die a slow agonizing death from ovarian cancer a four years ago. I was sad and frustrated to see her condition deteriorate and wished more could be done to "SAVE" her. She died. But her passing was a huge example and lesson to me and her posterity about life. Sure, she could have paid thousands to stay around for a few more painfull months, but chose to leave with quiet dignity and courage.

But then again, she had an unwavering faith and conviction of eternal life, something you libs sorely lack and which is likely the cause for your clamoring petition to get the government to save you from yourself. It is ego to think you hold enough intrinsic value that the government is willing to pay a small fortune or even capable of saving you from the choices you made which led to the natural consequence of life and death. Where is that discussion, comrade? I guess we'll save that dicussion for the health czar and his/her commissions should this bill be foisted on America.

As a previous post stated -- check out her record as a corporate executive! She can't get hired as a department manager let alone CEO so now she will run for office. So typical of these narcissistic types -- they just have to have center stage. Believe me, Fiorino and those of her ilk could care less about other people's problems. And by those of her ilk I mean, Wall Street bankers, Republican congresspeople and drug kingpins -- they are all cut from the same cloth.

Mary Challenger of CA 2:40PM November 25, 2009

I am assuming that your post is satire. As cynical as this world is, I find it hard to believe that someone could truthfully be as cold-hearted as you appear to be. Yes, illness, sickness, etc are part of life. And so too is ignorance, as you have so clearly illustrated. Good for you that apparently you and your entire family are healthy and/or able to pay for your medical expenses. I hope mental illness is covered in your policy, because you are showing early signs. I love how the supposed "religious right" takes such a hard stance against helping those less fortunate than them. To claim JaJa has a large ego is hilariously hypocritical, when what could be more egotistical than to think that you are so super healthy and financially secure that you are immune to problems like this. And please, braniac, come up with a better metaphor than that stupid Kool-Aid drinking example that has been beat to death so much that it has lost meaning.

grundy of IL 8:31AM November 25, 2009

The ego of people!! Your brilliant analysis is precisely what's wrong with the health care debate. There has been no debate.

"I'm unemployed with a pre-existing condition?"

Somehow you people are under the misguided notion that it's GOVERNMENT'S responsibility to provide for you health! What crazy kool-aid did you drink that you actually believe this? I mean really, perhaps we should all pay taxes so that government can end the negative forces of gravity. Just think, planes wouldn't fall out of the sky, ships wouldn't sink, there would be no need for bridges, etc.

Understand that illness, sickness, etc are part of life. People get sick and people die. What selfishness people have that they think they can linger when they really should have left a long time ago.

Go read Viktor Frankl's words in "Man's Search for Meaning" for an enlightened understanding to suffering. Basically, his contention is "that the meaning of life is found in every moment of living; life never ceases to have meaning, even in suffering and death."

david of ID 7:07PM November 24, 2009

I'm a computer programmer. What if my job gets outsourced to India or China and I no longer have employer provided insurance? I have a pre-existing condition as well. That's what bothers me. The Republicans say they have a better idea. What the heck is it and how will it help me if I'm unemployed with a pre-existing condition? Don't tell me - tax credits, right? The Republican answer to basically everything. I live in Texas. They told us tort reform would lower our insurance rates. Didn't happen. They told us electric deregulation would lower our utility costs. They doubled. Iraq will welcome us a liberators. The war will last weeks, certainly not months. A democratic Iraq will transform the middle east. We know he has them. We know where they are.

I believed Colin Powell when he stood before the U.N. and showed us the "proof" of Iraqi "weapons of mass destruction"

I just don't believe anything you say anymore.

It's the Democrats turn now. You get to try again later, but you better come up with something better than Sarah Palin or you'll miss your chance.

JaJa of TX 5:57PM November 24, 2009

Why would anyone want to live in California when they could live in a conservative, Republican dominated paradise, like Oklahoma?

JaJa of TX 5:45PM November 24, 2009

Now that we know Barabara Boxer with her support of the Senate Health Care bill

will betray workers rights, attack their benefits and now legislate that middle and low income workers pay for this so called health care "reform" I think Fiorini actually has a chance. Seniors too are concerned about what is happening to them regarding Medicare if the Senate Reid Obama plan goes through. Our work place plans with be taxed into oblivion with this 40% excise tax and take away plans that provide doctor choice. This is "reform"???

By the way, don't believe her website that states that people with healthcare plans a work will have the security of knowing they will be there. She is either clueless about what she is voting for or lying. It is now clear that Obama lied when he said no one making under $250,000 dollars a year will be taxed for the health reform revenues and the Senate Dems are covering for him.

HMO plans will be left and the taxes levied will be added to the cost of our plans premiums as well as benefit reductions. When the "reform" costs spiral out of control then they'll take more because the mechanism will be in place to do so.

I'm saying this and I'm a Democrat, a stunned one when I studied this issue and did the math. The Senate and Obama are pushing this before the millions who will be adversley truly realize it. A train is going to run over your employer provided care.
