"He glorifies capitalism because most of his energy is spent to get for himself more material goods"

Moon gives some lip service to capitalism and "democracy" but he wants our political system replaced. He thinks "American style democracy" must give way to his form of theocracy called Godism.

Moon is not a capitalist though. He has used swindled money from the Japanese (google "spiritual sales japan") and his members took no pay when the organization was gaining a foothold around the world. He is not businessman nor "capitalist."

Moon brags about using the WT to "influence" the USA.

Here a quote from a strong conservative and the first editor fo the WT, James Whelan:

http://tinyurl.com/yqqbmz

"They (the Moonies) are subverting our political system. They're doing it through front organizations--most of them disguised--and through their funding of independent organizations--through the placement of volunteers in the inner sanctums of hard-pressed organizations. In every instance--in every instance--those who attend their conferences, those who accept their money or their volunteers, delude themselves that there is no loss of virtue because the Moonies have not proselytized. That misses the central, crucial point: the Moonies are a political movement in religious clothing. Moon seeks power, not the salvation of souls. To achieve that, he needs religious fanatics as his palace guard and shock troops. But more importantly, he needs secular conscripts--seduced by money, free trips, free services, seemingly endless bounty and booty--in order to give him respectability and, with it, that image of influence which translates as power."

To the victors go the spoils - since the days of Andrew Jackson. Selling access isn't new or surprising. The only point is, we were promised something different.

To understand the Washington Times attack,.websearch Sun Myong Moon, the Korean who began Unification Church in 1948. He gave lots of money to Nixon & helped his campaign. He gave millions to Pres. H.W. Bush. Bush & his wife Barbara visited Moon in Korea. Moon had several wives & a commonlaw wife & extramarital affairs. There are hints of illegitimate children. The Korean CIA had problems with him. Former members of Unification Church said Moon personally gave extremely severe beatings to men & women. He was convicted of tax fraud. Moon says he is Jesus reincarnated. Check for yourself and understand the Washington Times far right slant. You have to read the stuff to realize Moon represents the most dangerous part of the Far Right. He glorifies capitalism because most of his energy is spent to get for himself more material goods, It seems to me he is a danger to the republic because he has so much money and can use it to subvert our election system by having his candidates be able to spend more money on campaigns, dirty tricks, bribes, etc. Now I wonder if Nixon meant Moon, when Nixon said "We can get a million dollars to pay Hunt and others to keep quiet about Watergate."

Readership of Preacher Moon's Washington Times is very far from that of the Washington Post, with its well-earned record of being an excellent source of news. Moon is the money-grubbing monk who conducts mass marriage rites for hundreds of couples. He has been accused of using believers' money for profiteering personal projects. He and his cult tried to take over an entire town. I'll research him and post more information. The topic is accusation that Obama misuses the White House to get contributions. How did off-topic comments about the Bay Bridge find their way here?

Why are you parroting the Moonie press hatchet job? This is a classic Republican weapon of mass distraction. The failure to even mention the Republicans in jail for their own "Pay to Play" schemes run by Tom Delay and company is telling. Jeez, I thought US NEWS was better than that.

Distortion, Distraction and Division, that's the Republican Way.

Good to see you got an unbiased opinion from a reputable source rather than some partisan political hack.

Philly Reader of PA 5:49PM October 28, 2009

What a piece of partisan garbage. Ending with a quote from a GOP hack just proves the point. Where was your outrage when Bush was selling himself to the highest bidder?
