Is this a joke? Our last vice president was the former CEO of one of the largest defence contractors, a company that profited ENORMOUSLY from the Iraq war, and received hundreds of thousands of dollars from them in delayed compensation while Vice President.

You don't even MENTION that but bring up the fact that a political consultant for the President used to work as a political consultant? Seriously? You take four words to discuss Jack Abramoff, who took millions of dollars in various shady dealings, including setting up meetings for the President. You mention the "resignation" of Randy Cunningham, who was convicted of taking millions of dollars in bribes, including a Rolls-Royce, and is currently serving an eight-year prison sentence, but talk about the "bundles of cash" William Jefferson had. You're even willing to mention Hassan Nemazee but apparently Enron, George W Bush's single largest corporate supporter, doesn't even rate a mention!

Incredibly, you even have the cojones to back-handedly refer to John Murtha and Abscam, implying that they're still "unraveling" something about it. The event occurred in 1978, and the investigation concluded in 1980, declining to indict or prosecute John Murtha. Murtha was further shown on videotape directly refusing bribes when asked. The Department of Justice concluded that Murtha's actions were solely to drive investment in his district. Five Congressmen were indicted and convicted, so it was clearly not some sort of cover-up.

This is nothing but a partisan smear job. Is this what you got into journalism for - to slant your articles to get views for your advertisers?

Where's the news here? This has been going on with politicians since governments were first formed. It's not a matter of who is corrupt but rather, a matter of who is better at getting away with it.

As for me, I'm not faring to well as a working class person. I think it's time to get into politics. I think I'll start by running for city council.

I do not Believe no matter how the rich try to brainwash us, When it comes to whats good for the people experience is not what we need Because our needs are not that complicated. However business can be complicated, so complicated that I hear Police use the phrase "cost effective" I hear the fire departments use the same phrase as well as our government. We learn in so many ways, Our technology comes from both the poor and the rich educated and educationally challenged from the young and the old. Ideals come from everywhere. the PC was built in A garage, So who is more important than who?. everybody in a uncomplicated world can do something. I had a quadriplegic in a wheel chair counsel me with a computer for his voice. Not only was he a counselor he owned a taxi cab business probably because he had the right educational, family and community support.

there is many walks of life but our government comes from the upper middle class (as they call it) and up and if a lower income person makes it in he/she soon forgets those he/she left behind.

What we need is for the people of America to reevaluate itself, Not the government who got lost because of less and less input by the people.

its time to move on but we canot move on while we are still fighting one another.

I doubt that Obama will run again in fact I will be surprised if he isn't impeached. The Democrats have a hard time finding a candidate for President from the well known politicians so they resort to finding a new unknown Governor or Senator that the voters don't know too much about and then build him/her up to be presidental timbre. This is a pretty good game plan and has worked; just look at the last few Democrats who became President. The political machine doesn't care who gets in as long as they get into power. Power means Money, Money, etc.

Watch and see who they put up for this coming election. If the people in this country are simple minded enough to re-elect Obama, then they deserve what they get. Unfortunately, I am just a lone voice talking to deaf ears who are easily swayed by the empty promises the Democrats are handing out. For example, healthcare in this country will be better for everyone because Obama is undercutting 300 billion from Medicare like Robin Hood taking from the poor and giving to the poor. Don't think that only the Republicans have a lot of rich people in their ranks, the Democrats have a lot of millionaires also. Obama is a millionaire. I, myself, used to be middle-class but now I am Upper Poverty and after Obama, I will be Lower Poverty. Thanks Mr. President.

Wishful thinking that anyone could compare to corrupt politics of the Republican party.

As facts start to get revealed about the crimes of the Bush II era, we will get some real fireworks. I know the right wingnuts are proud of the criminal politics from Nixon, Cheney, Delay and Abramoff, but it will be another century before anyone measures up to their corruption.

There is no critical mass of scandals that will turn voters away from democrats. The only reason it affected voters in Republicans' case is because it was front & center in the news 24/7. That will never happen with democrats given the media's breathtaking political activism in news.

Democrats will suffer heavy losses in 2010 but for other reasons, namely their "contempt for americans" healthcare tour. The senate probably won't change much because of the distribution of seats for Class III (18 D, 18 R despite only 40 R seats) but 2012 will be a different story in the senate - of 33 seats up for election, 24 are D.

I Agree with some of the replys to my post, Profit is not a bad word , polititicians is not a bad word but anytime profit gets in the way of doing your job because of greed, Quality and service go out the door. I have epilepsy greedy doctors over dose me in the name of profit and make me sicker rather than better, Profit is good I like profit but not at the expense of my health.

Obama may be talking to the wrong people but who do you state your concerns to.

Me or your friends or on the www. Thats okay but would you not do better by talking to the right people? I look forword to more replys to my opinions but I hope we will all write or call our politicians and let them know what our concerns are. Debate is good it allows us to learn and improve on our own opinions and ideas if we have open minds.

Go to city counsel meetings to keep your part of the world in order. go to the court house for the schedule and lets take our government back
