Poll Finds Voters Against Obamacare, as Trust in Democrats Drops

The economy's fall accelerated when dems took control of congress. Bush shouldn't have signed the bailouts and congress shouldn't have stepped up spending. Our government seems incapable of making sound financial decisions no matter who is in charge. This $14 trillion debt didn't just happen overnight. Both Repubs and Dems are responsible. If cuts are going to be made, then the cuts need to start with congressional salaries, pensions, and benefits. That, in and of itself, will not be enough but I would like to see some degree of accountability.

Let's all exercise a little objectivity here:

As I recall, Obama said on several occasions that abortion would not be funded with federal dollars. How long ago did they pass this bill? And it has taken that long to find out that, lo and behold, federal funding for abortions IS in the bill. There are only two (2) possible explanations:

1) They didn't know what they were voting on (which is incompetence), OR

2) They did know what was in it and intentionally lied (which is deception)

Which of those two qualities do you prefer in your leaders?

Obama has taken the crown as the worst president ever. Worse even than one one-term, hostage abandoning Peanut Farmer.

Dithering on everything - no accomplishents - as the Obama recession grows worse by the day.

The decision to bring terrorists to New York is pure insanity.

We have an administration adrift with one oar in the water.

I can't wait until 2010 elections when we can boot many loony libs OUT THE DOOR!

It never ceases to amaze me at just how ignorant and uneducated most of this country happens to be. I know everyone can't be the same, but is it really skewed that far to the dumb side, or is it that they happen to be louder?

I look back on this countries history with both pride and shame. Pride in all that has been accomplished and shame in some of what has transpired to get to those accomplishments. I often wonder... wasn't there a better way? A precedent was set from the time the first ships arrived here and were greeted by smiling natives and it still continues today. Racism, slavery(once physical and now mental), selfishness, greed and murder has kept this country from becoming the true "United" country it could really be. Just a few basic changes in our current laws could be the catalyst for this great unity we think we have currently, and would push everyone to greater prosperity and equality.

To start we need true term limits for 'all' federal, state, and local officials. It should have been and needs to be part of our constitution. Only then will the positions be truly taken by people with an interest in working for the 'people' and not for businesses or personal gains. There's no reason why anyone should sit in the same seat for 40 to 60 years. It boggles my mind at how people continue to vote for such a person. Good or bad... its just too long and they arent there working for you anymore.

Secondly, education in this country needs to be free. From K-12 and 4 years of college. If you can afford to pay for college ...great, but it's quite obvious that more of our 'constituents' need to be better educated. Lastly, healthcare should be free for all. But, before we can tackle that or education we really have to give up on this notion that 'we' in this current time built this country. We are all descendants from immigrants, a lot of whom care here illegally and we were grandfathered in, while the rest were met with very little resistance in becoming an 'american'. Lets not forget that some came here unwillingly due to conflict in their own country. So, we really need to get a grip on reality when it comes to all the many flavors that exist south of our land who have made a home here amongst us. They too, have and are, fleeing sometimes unwillingly to a new place in the hopes that they can be something and have something. If there are 6 million undocumented immigrants here. How do you think they are going away if no one could get rid of the 6 million africans that were brought here unwillingly by force? So, we need to have a lottery.. give them all a number and sign them in one by one. Then we can close up the border and move one with the business of making this country what it should be..... better than how we received it.

As for Obama... polls are only as good as the people phrasing the questions...the people asking the questions and the people responding and the people tabulating the results. think about that

The health care debate turned nasty at the town meetings. We know that there are 46 million plus without insurance. They are not angry. There are 9% people without jobs. They are not mad. We have another group losing their homes. They are not wearing guns and screaming. The question is ,who are these people? They have homes, jobs and insurance. They just do not want anyone including the government to do anything. The other question is, What were they doing when Bush let the economy dropped? Sure they have a right to express themselves. However, please listen to the issues and leave your gun at home.

Peter Roff is mistaken: Obama's numbers are going down not because most Americans don't want healthcare reform but because one of two reasons; 1) seniors have been frightened into believing untruths either because of the language from the bill has confused them or because of right-wingers who purposely maligned the Bill. 2) those that voted for him are upset because they don't think he is pushing hard enough for an overhaul on our entire health system. We feel he has been swayed by corporate America and right wingers and we are not happy about it.

So no, most of us do not think like this Right-Wing site, most of us are just unhappy with the way he has handled the Bill. But feel healthcare reform is necessary. Polls misleading because they phrase the question if we are happy with HR 3200 or with the President. THey don't ask if healthcare reform is needed, or if we want a public option.

Kay Beth of TN 5:47PM August 17, 2009

While the die-hard Democrat supporters keep blaming the Republicans for the lies about HR 3200, they fail to recognize the dis-information campaign being spread by the WHite House and the DNC. They answer pointed questions with anecdotes rather than facts or evade the questions completely. Are there exagerations on both sides- of course, but there is a bigger lack of truth and a lot of hyperbole and mis-information is coming from Mr. Obama. His problem is that there are a lot of us out here who are more knowledgeable about what is and is NOT in the bill than he is. Mrs Palin has not helped the conservatives wither. Mr Obama has no one to blame but himself because he has not been truthful with the American people and tries to shift the blame on FOX news and the extreme right wing pundits and cable media. If MR Obama would not misconstrue what is and is not in the bill and be accurate about who has or has not endorsed HR 3200 his poll numbers would not be falling.

Our wonderfull democrat rep (Margie Fudge) for our district has said that the voters do not know what they are talking about on healthcare and to trust us. My vote for her next election is "NO" and "yes" for whoever runs against her.

Our other rep has said "I hear the voters and I'm against the healthcare reform". I guess he wants to stay in office?

I can't say I have any interest in this subject. I use the "VA" but it is limited to poor people but does cover what needs to be covered and is a good system.

But my experience is with clinical medical research on FIV which is similar to HIV. The cost for HIV drugs make them impractable. But this is true on many new drugs being created. Herbs and supplements work out better since the targets are the normal molecules in the body and not the HIV enzymes.

Sorry to say that one of the major costs of drugs is our government. So if the government which to reform costs it has to reform itself.

It should be noted that the raw materials that make of drugs come from China.

Of cause the latest deal with UAW in General Motors was not to bring more of there cars made in China.

As a General Motors bond holder as was not too happy to see General Motors deal favor the unions.

But one thing with the government is politics. I think this maybe there main function. The main problem is the government has lost controll of its budget and now it wants to add healthcare reform claiming it is not going to cost. It would be nice if we had a government that was honest but since we don't this healtcare reform is not going to be a happy event anymore than having two wars we are fighting. Don't ask why we are fighting two wars because I have no idea why.

Worse with all these new people getting Medicare and social security this costs money we do not have unless we simply print alot more of it!
