Will Obama say "Off with their heads!"?

Or will he say "We will always have Bagram too"?

Congress can either fund the closing of Gitmo or they can fund the running of Gitmo. This is temporary theater.

i'm a moderate not a liberal and by your accounting practices you must be a fascist- i'm surprised your from CA. when i said we're in trouble i meant the GOP. i'll get a grip when the likes of you let go.

I wonder how many would object if we took Bernie Madoff to Gitmo and 'persuaded' him to tell who helped him steal 50 Billion dollars.

As far as I can tell, there is nothing in your posts worth refuting. Nothing that you could even judge as true or false, because it's opinion. You have a right to one just like anyone else. It's just opinion and reductio ad absurdum logic, creating fanciful situations littered with stereotypical characteristics of your idea of what the "far left" is. It would be like trying to nail Jell-O to the wall.

It's easy to do what you do. Anything slightly left of center, just take the opposite opinion and take potshots. I live out in the "red" area of rural Illinois, and I see the same thing between Sox and Cubs fans. If you are a fan of one, everything the other team does is stupid, short-sighted, and counter-productive. By the way, I pull for both teams. In baseball and politics.

even if you have nothing to say.

Ah Grundy, "There you go again.", was Reagan's line. And no Grundy, I did not plagiarize Nicholson - Though I may have unconsciously channeled him - You know what they say about "great minds" - Though that doesn't seem to apply to you and the Reagan thing.

You know Grundy, I agree with most of your post - except the "No substance" remark.

Everything I said was absolutely true. Like Texas Joe, you can't face it, but you can't really deny it either. Must be a tough spot for you - or it would be if you were sufficiently introspecive to actually think beneath the emotional surface of an issue.

Well, have to run... late for my John Birch Society meeting.

p.s.

Oh..and Grundy, the next time we chat perhaps you could come up with a thoughtful refutation of my position or comments rather than just a lot of huff and puff.

During the campaign all parties promised many things with nothing to back them up with. We have Obama at the wheel now finding himself in a position he took to the people without any knowledge of the current circumstances. As a junior senator that spent little time actually working in the senate should have we expected more? I don't think so.

In a very short period of time the "Obama Bunch" has come up with all kinds of ideas to correct every problem in this country. Why didn't he as a senator offer these ideas when he was suppose to be working in that same congress? So if you look at it from this point of view GITMO was just a side show in the circus we now have in office. The democrats are just playing follow the leader. What a shame. We have 535 people, elected officials, running this country and none of them can say no to Obama nor think for themselves.

Smokie453 of LA 9:38AM May 06, 2009

There you go again... bitter, snide, sarcastic, sniping, with no substance to back it up. Except for a lame paraphrased quote from Jack Nicholson in "A Few Good Men".

Grundy of IL 8:51AM May 06, 2009

So, do you think what I said isn't true? If so, it's time for you to drift back to earth from the Obama ether. Or, do you simply find it too troubling to accept?

Either way - I'm thinkin' you must be pretty snugly wrapped in plastic yourself. Odd for a Texan... You must be from Austin.

It's about hypocrisy, Joe... Take away that thin layer of civilized comfort - what you, or any other liberal, would do to save their skin, or that of their family, would make water-boarding look like a hot tub party at Heff's place.

So get a grip Joe. You exist because men and women stand in harm's way and do what is necessary to insure you the luxury of scorning them.

Remember Joe, "Three days without food or one day without water, and that plastic facade we call civilization gets torn apart.

What will it take to put some sense into that empty space between our President's ears? Closing Gitmo is the worst thing that our President can do right now.

I'm am so sorry that a few terrorists had to endure some torture. I suppose that being burned alive, being crushed to death, or choking to death on smoke isn't torture...try and tell that to the families of the victims of 9/11.

Has everyone forgotten? Does no one remember when more then 3,000 innocent Americans suffered horrible, and terrifying deaths simply because of where they live.

So ya I'm sorry if not exactly the sympathetic type when it comes to terrorists.

All I can say is that we've dodged the bullet...for now.
