It Wasn't 'Gifts'—Mitt Romney Lost Because He Insulted Voters
Tweet Share on Facebook November 16, 2012 CommentFor someone who said the Obama campaign won because the president gave "gifts" to women, young people, Latinos, and African-Americans, Mitt Romney has forgotten an important part of gift-giving: It's the thought that counts.

Papa John's CEO Should Take a Pay Cut, Not Lay Off Workers
Tweet Share on Facebook November 16, 2012 CommentPapa John's CEO John Schnatter is going to cut his workers' hours, lay off workers, and increase the price of his pizzas by 11 to 14 cents. Why? Because the president was re-elected. More specifically, due to Obamacare. And he is not alone. Walmart is cutting hours, as is Denny's, and some other larger franchises like Red Lobster, Olive Garden, etc.

Tweet Share on Facebook November 15, 2012 CommentWomen, African-Americans, and Latinos flexed a well-cut political muscle in this month's elections, playing a strong role in re-electing President Barack Obama and contributing to the most diverse House of Representatives in history.

Rush Limbaugh, Donald Trump Among Real 2012 Losers
Tweet Share on Facebook November 15, 2012 CommentLast week, Republicans lost a golden opportunity to win the White House. The GOP also lost two seats in the Senate when there were many more Democratic seats up for grabs than Republican ones. The GOP retained control of the House of Representatives but nationally more voters actually supported Democratic House candidates. Please forgive the length of this post. There are so many Republicans to blame and so little space.

Obama’s Got a Bigger Mandate Than the GOP
Tweet Share on Facebook November 14, 2012 CommentDoes he or doesn't he? Does President Obama have a mandate from the voters heading into his second term or not? That question has been argued back and forth for a week now, and will continue to be sparred over for months to come. But with most of the votes counted in the country, we can say this with some certainty: He's got more of a mandate than do House Republicans.

Why Is David Petraeus’s Affair a Scandal?
Tweet Share on Facebook November 14, 2012 CommentThere's the four-star general-turned-top spy who was canoodling with his adoring, hyper-fit, married biographer. Then the apparently jealous author wrote warning E-mails to another woman, a Tampa "socialite" whom she thought was getting too close to her married former lover. Then the Florida hostess told a friend who also happens to be in the FBI, and seems to be either fond of her or just have an odd sense of humor, since he sent a shirtless photo of himself to her. Enter another general, who sent "flirtatious" emails to the Florida party-giver.

Fixing the Fiscal Cliff and Immigration Are Keys to a GOP Revival
Tweet Share on Facebook November 14, 2012 CommentIt's popular sport this time of year—and particularly so in this cycle—to pull out the pundits' predictions and mock their inaccuracy. So, let's pause one final time this cycle and look briefly at the dogs that didn't bark:

President Obama Doesn't Need a 'Mandate'—Or Help From Mitt Romney
Tweet Share on Facebook November 13, 2012 CommentOne would think that with re-election—by an Electoral College landslide, notably—people would finally accept that President Barack Obama is the leader of the country. But still, despite the failed efforts of the birthers and Donald Trump and everyone else who just couldn't imagine that a majority of voters said Obama should be president, the efforts to discredit Obama persist.

Hillary Clinton, Marco Rubio Among Real 2012 Winners
Tweet Share on Facebook November 13, 2012 CommentThere were also a lot of politicians not on the ballot this year who won or lost, anyway. In fact, Republicans who didn't run this year did better than the GOP candidates who did. I'll call the winners now and deal with the losers in my next post. The envelopes please. The winners were:

Against Filibuster 'Reform,' GOP Needs to Radicalize the Senate
Tweet Share on Facebook November 13, 2012 CommentOver the last two years, Nevada Sen. Harry Reid has ruled over the United States Senate like some kind of 19th century potentate.
